I actually agree with the Pens got lucky as well Sask with sucking at the exact right period of time...still think at some point you should get docked in the lottery for not getting your shit together though now that there is a cap.

Well, Howson officially overplayed his hand by a huge margin. Should've tried to get a deal done before this draft. I don't think he'll get as plum a deal now that he has to demand a 2013 pick, but that's just my opinion.

Just looked at their draft board. After finishing dead last in the NHL they went:

Defensemen with boring name
Goalie with fun name
Goalie with fun name
22 point winger with boring name
middling Swedish junior with fun name
OHL d-man with awesome name (Gianluca Curcuruto)

I've don't remember seeing a last place team pick such a lack of offence with their draft. Why the fuck is Scott Howson still running this team? Two European goalies? The team's new Rusty Klesla? Forwards with about a 3% shot of making it as a NHL scorer?

They're already in the ground, his job is over. This thread is over. It's not about Hard Luck anymore. It's about being absolutely braindead.

Forgot to add, Columbus fired 4 scouts right after this draft was over (that's when their contracts expire). Figures.

Islanders reportedly offered CBJ all of their picks to move from 4 to 2.

http://www.bluejacketsxtra.com/content/ ... picks.html

Seems crazy but given how shit CBJ are at drafting it was probably the best move for them to keep the surest thing and not take on a bunch of picks they would have wasted.

I assume, if this is true, the Isles offered that to Edmonton as well.

I'm doubtful that Snow offered all this for Ryan Murray, it'd make way more sense to do it for Yakupov. Then again, all 7 picks the Isles did make were on d-men.

Tambo, Howson, and Snow all trying to make a deal with each other. Yikes.

Get ready for Columbus to set records for goals against this season. Not only does it look like they're going into next season with a Mason/Bobrovsky tandem in net, they trade Marc Methot for Nick Foligno and sign the corpse of Adrian Aucoin. Remember this is also the franchise that let Grant Clitsome go for nothing.

Colymbus's top six right now:

Jack Johnson
James Wisniewski
Nikita Nikitin
Fedor Tyutin
Adrian Aucoin
John Moore

Wow, makes the old top pairing of Commodore/Hejda look downright stellar.

I'd say they'll get a solid d-man for Nash, but at this point who knows if he's even going to be traded?

I see three quality D there. Nikitin is one of the most underrated guys in the NHL. Tyutin is similarly under-appreciated though he makes decent coin. Wiz can be very effective. Then there's Jack Johnson.

Don't forget Ryan Murray. David Savard is a decent prospect, too.

Never liked Tyutin, even in his NYR days. Just my opinion. Haven't seen enough of Nikitin to make a determination one way or another.

I did forget about Murray though. I assume since they have something resembling a top six they won't rush him.

The main plus about drafting him over Dumba or Reinhart or Rielly was that he was NHL ready today.

Rick Nash < Zach Parise

Let's keep some perspective on Nash. His best years are behind him.

Unreal.

Even if we do end up having a season, the Jax will be without their top pick in this year's draft, a kid they picked for his NHL readiness, among other reasons.

Somebody get Jean-Luc Grand Pierre on the phone.

Jack Johnson was Captain America at the Worlds last year.

Cam Atkinson was very solid for them at the end of last year and is lighting up the AHL, he's really small but could provide some scoring. I think this team will be better than last year, with a decent goalie they might be able to surprise!

Feh...captain of one tournament is one thing, permanent captain of a pro franchise entirely another. I'm not as much of a JJ hater as others on this board are, but I certainly wouldn't pin the C on a guy like that.

Ick. Forgot Todd Richards is the coach.

The Jax give up 42 shots last night...to the Phoenix Coyotes. They lost 5-1.

Guess that's what a blueline anchored by Jack Johnson and James Wisniewski will get you.
