Hawks sign Swiss star Pius Suter. Kinda small centre in Europe, I suspect he'll play wing in NA. Had a few tryouts before, but he took a major step forward this season. Played in the OHL, too.

They also signed Wyatt Kalynuk, Wisconsin D who let his clock run out with the team that drafted him.

The Hawks are once again in cap hell, should Shaw and Seabrook ever find their way off LTIR.

A year ago they were all set to move on from Corey Crawford, and now after a solid playoff they're hoping he'll take a hometown discount.

Now that Dach has arrived, Strome is a prime candidate to be nontendered. They'd probably be happy to get rid of Smith, Murphy and Maatta's contracts.

Also, did they jump the gun on locking up DeBrincat?

Completely forgot about Andrew Shaw.

You're not the first person to wonder that aloud.

Hawks remind me of the Avs during their "rebuilding" years. Talented, but aging core up front, a blueline that's way too slow, questions in net, and a bench boss who may not be up to the task.

To read Bowman drone on and on about Zadorov and how he's a top-pairing guy and what not is enough to make me laugh and cringe at the same time. Boy is HE ever in for a surprise.

He probably said the same thing about Maatta...

At least with Olli there was puck skill and a modicum of hockey sense. Physically, Zads is a beast (also a fun personality) but he is a net negative when it comes to hockey sense, which is why he's nothing more than a wildly inconsistent third pairing guy.

But whatever, Bowman may just be trying to put polish on this turd knowing full well the next couple seasons are going to be hella painful. Kinda interesting when they were in a soft rebuild that they managed to snag Dach with a high pick because of the dumb new lottery rules.

Tough break for the Hawks with Dach messing up his wrist at the WJC. They immediately signed Carl Soderberg as a stopgap.

This team is going to be lousy.

Toews out with a mystery illness. Sounds scary. Won't be back any time soon...

Anyone know what the mystery illness is? I heard chronic fatigue and overall lethargy? That's scary coming from an elite athlete.

I would imagine he's had multiple covid tests, but that sure sounds like some symptoms.

Hope he gets well soon!

My first thought as well, but you'd think if he had COVID they'd know and just say it. Right now it sounds like they don't know why he's fatigued.

Carl Soderberg is now this team's 1C. He's not a bad player at all--but he's 35 and skates like a wounded seal.

Oh well...the object was to tank, and tank they shall.

Given their centre and goalie situations, I think they might be the worst team in the league this season.

I certainly am not a medical professional but it does sound quite a bit like chronic fatigue syndrome, or myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME).

Andrew Shaw something of a forgotten man in Chicago, but he's healthy and ready to go. Hawks fans need something to get excited about.

Funny to see the Hawks, who had to jettison so many players to places like Florida over the years to keep cap compliant, now on the other end, acquiring Henrik Borgstrom as a treat for Brett Connolly's contract.

Won't make up losing Teravainen, though.

How the hell would they recommend the scumbag to a HIGH SCHOOL after he assaulted grown men? Pro hockey players, who could probably tear him in half. To knowingly help him be around kids? This is so fucked up.
