Hawks at $56.9m for 2012-13 with 17 players signed (10F, 5D, 2 G). No significant raises to make in that time frame, either (only RFA is Ben Smith).

It'd been a while since I looked at Chicago's situation, for a sec I was like "why the fuck are they paying Olesz $3.125m?" and then I remembered "oh yes, to get rid of Cambell's $7.14m."

This team is loaded going forward.

Hopefully the team waives John Scott.

BTW, Patrick Sharp is totally worth this kind of coin. He's more important to the team's success than Patrick Kane.

They'll probably get rid of Scott since the addition of Lepisto gives them 8 defensemen I believe.

Didn't realize they got Carcillo for so cheap, and for 1 year to boot.

This is a great core of talent going forward--if they can get Olesz to actually stay healthy and Frolik to realize his potential they have a great chance to reclaim the Cup. Long term, if McNeill and Saad pan out they can make up for the supreme whiffs Tallon made on Kyle Beach and Jack Skille.

But yes, losing Sharp would've been devastating, since I read he's a huge presence off the ice as well as on.

They would've lost 90% of their female fans if they didn't keep him. And 10% of their male fans.

John Scott wants to provide more offence next year. I say let him fulfill his dreams of that and send him to Rockford.

To be honest, they'll probably send Kruger or Smith down to start the year and keep Scott as one of the subs.
