I'm reading the crest on front is made of a more "flexible" material, which is kinda silly. I've never heard a hockey player complain about the logo on the front of his jersey not being flexible enough.
Did you ever hear of one complaining that he feels he could go 9% faster if not for his pesky, jagged jersey?
I actually like the Hurricanes' logo, because it is relatively simple. It was of course tough to follow in the steps of
The Most Ingenious Sports Logo of All Time™, but considering every '90s-onward logo has been insanely detailed, it's kind of nice to have one you can draw – without an intimate knowledge of
shadowing effects,
aerodynamics,
perspective or a copy of the
Da Vinci Code.
The other thing I noticed was the disappearance of a shoulder patch. Perhaps these are only early models and one will be added, but it's really surprising to see a missed merchandising opportunity in 2013.
