Carolina goalie Mike Murphy became the first ever goalie in NHL history to have this stat line for his NHL debut:
1 GP, 0-1-0, 0.00 GAA, 1.000 SV%

Carolina then came back a little when Eric Staal scored with 5 seconds remaining to make it a one goal game. Iginla's empty netter was recorded as the game winner, and since Murphy was the goalie of record at the time, he got hung with the loss.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Murphy is the first goalie in NHL history to record a loss before allowing a goal.
