Beer league Leaf fans I play with can't stand the guy. His mistakes are GLARING and you have a hard time convincing them that the good outweighs the bad.
The same type of oaf that ran Petry and Subban out of town. If you handle the puck, you're going to give it away more than a stay-at-home who doesn't do shit. It's logical. You never remember all the times he calmly and swiftly moved the puck out of harm's way or kickstarted a rush down the ice.
Statistically, the Leafs were so much better when he was in the lineup compared to when he was out with injury, it's not even funny. There's a reason they ran out and got Tyson Barrie.
