https://news.sportslogos.net/2022/08/03 ... /hockey-2/The Team Formerly Known as the Stockton Heat has been moved to the parent club's hometown and will furthermore be known as the Wranglers, an homage to the old WHL team that played in Calgary until 1987 when they moved to Lethbridge and became the Hurricanes (all of which I did not know until today).
That original Wranglers logo is all kinds of awesome, especially with the cowboy's lasso snagging the letter and all. That said, this new logo pays tribute to that one AND the old classic Atlanta Flames crest, so it's a winner for me.
It's too bad the AHL and NHL require the affiliates wear the same helmets and pants as the parent club (obvious exceptions being in Hershey, Rochester, and Chicago, and the Avalanche's recent shift from black to blue really screwed the Eagles
) because this is one instance where an all-black look with red and gold trim would look cool. It never looked good with the Flames.
Anyway, me like, and I'm always a geek about stuff like this.
