WHOA! Huberdeau signs an 8-year/10.5M AAV extension in Calgary. At that price, why not stick around?

Well..that's interesting....that Montreal dinner from cent-vit must have really paid off! Probably brought flowers for his other too! Always a learning lesson!

I will tell you...I would rather give this kind of money to Huberdeau than Gaudreau........Huberdeau is Canadian captain material.

Good for Calgary. They took a chicken shit offseason and made chicken soup.

Don't know if this is enough to offset the losses of both Johnny Hockey AND Son of Keith but they also made a huge addition to their blueline. Weegar-Tanev will be as good a shutdown pair as there is in the league.

They have 12M (!!!) off the books in a year when Monahan/Lucic depart, so Hubie doesn't even take up all that. I'd imagine they're still on the lookout for another forward, but Dube will get a shot to prove 18 goals wasn't a fluke.

Kadri to Calgary after failing to get him a few years ago. Monahan dumped to Monahantreal.

Shipped off Johnnys buddy......cleaning house! Good that's what was needed. Good Luck to Sean. Classy, even though hampered by injuries.

Cent-vit!

Not too sure about Kadri.....he nixed something earlier to come here but whatever I guess.

The team is going to look different and that's a good thing!

I think extending the Battle of Alberta for the next few years will make this all worth it.

True. Gotta give ol Cent-vit credit. What was a disaster now doesn't seem too bad. Dare I say, maybe even improved! Bravo!

7x7 is the reported amount, but nothing official yet. Takes him to 38, but a slightly lower AAV than expected.

Best of luck to Naz, he gets his big payday (I'm sure he was hoping for more but he had to know that signing only with a contender was going to severely limit the kind of contract those kinds of teams could offer him) and the Flames get a reasonable replacement for Gaudreau.

Conversely, I'm okay with the fact the Avs did not do the sort of cap-dancing necessary to accommodate a contract like that (though there is quite the gaping hole where a really good center used to be on the roster at present).

In some ways they're a better team before Son of Chuk and Johnny Hockey left.

Had to take what they were giving me with the Canucks feed last night. Most of the B team for the Flames (A team was back in Calgary untelevised). A lot of guys I haven't seen in a long time including Vallamaki who was just there but at least he wasn't Zadorov (who thought he was Gretzky in this one).

Highlight of the night for me was getting to watch Dustin Wolff.....if that guy sticks around the future is solid in net. Unfortunately he will probably end up traded for a pickup since the crease is pretty crowded.

A sweet break from Mitch Maclain......would not mind seeing Matthew Phillips on the club this year.

A good opportunity to see folks that more than likely will not make the team.

Canucks of note.....for inclusion purposes. Arceneau was running all over the ice with truculence until he got his fight with Klapka who had no response to the left. I like this Jet Woo guy and some dude whose name is unpronouncable Silly.....5poles or something like that. He made a phantom penalty in OT but also scored.

In all reality the Canucks top line only had to give about 5 minutes of effort to tie the game in the 3rd. And the Officials got as much of a workout as the players. Neither team could score on the PP until the Flames did in OT.

I don't particularly care much about the score in pre-season..I am just looking for play.

Not sure I really understand this team. What happened to televising Pre-season games? Sportsnet carries all the Oilers and Nucks home games as well as the Leafs. But never the Saddledome games. It used to be once upon a time that there was at least Flames TV on youtube but that too seems to have gone by the wayside. Eh...in a week I suppose it won't matter. Even the AVs have most of their preseason games on Altitude.

Ah...I see now they seem to have moved these things to TV: Live stream at CalgaryFlames.com which doesn't seem to work at all....at least I can't get there.

Anyway cuts should be coming shortly and no DS is not the second most handsome coach in the NHL.

No one who I've taken notice of yet.

Game better be on somewhere tonight!

Tonight's game will be broadcast on CalgaryFlames.com and the Flames' app at 7 p.m. MT.

For some unknown reason I cannot get to calgaryflames.com and i am not downloading a damn app.

Phillips didn't make it. Not sure if he cleared waivers yet.

Quite honestly I'd rather keep Milano over Lewis...and I would imagine the other folks that fight for spots are Rooney, Eakin and Ruzicka. They also pick up Zohorna on waivers, size, a Czech for a checking line.

D is a bit more tight. I would imagine Mackey gets a shot first and then someone else holds the fort down until Kylington is back. Meloche and Poirier haven't been bad and I would take them over Stone...hell I would probably take them over Zadorov but that isn't going to happen. Maybe they throw Valamaki a bone here.

Dustin Wolf is a casualty.

These games on the internet (calgaryflames.com) can stop any day now........as can the ones on twitter.

super disappointing that the Flames have chosen to stick to calgaryflames.com for their pre-season games. Would love to have followed but that site is wonky at best and I have no desire to watch at the computer I spend all day on. Missed opportunity for an eagerly awaited pre-season.

However, I am super excited about this team. I think its better than what was on the ice last year.......by Christmas we won't even remember Gaudreau or Tchachuk.

You know its going to be a a good year when Lil Yachty is repping the Flames in his "Wock to Poland"! Of course there also seems to be representation of the Yankees, Texas Rangers and oddly Internet Explorer among others I can't make out. There also appears to be some unfamiliar posturing going on in this video...I am trying to relate it to hockey or the city of Calgary but I can't make the smooth transition. Aliens!

In other news, Weegar and Sutter have been been extended out long term.

I finally got the idiotic flamestv to work after using a VPN in Canada. Now that nonsense is over we can move to the season.

If the last minute of last's night game is any indication this is going to be a gritty team with a little bit of a nasty edge.

Huberdeau has always been a bit nasty as well as Kadri. I like it!

Looks like Mackey has locked up that lost spot on D but we'll see for sure.

Eakin and Milano did not make it.

After watching tidbits of the pre-season I do have to say I like this team better than I did last year. And I am excited to see where it goes. That's it for cap-space!

Management can finally relax and see how it unfolds
