Well this is it for the forward corps. Brad 3 Lives has used up about 12..and I have no idea how he would survive another disappointing state of affairs.

The Flames upgraded where they needed to in the offseason (or as much as the wallet allowed). I was feeling great about this year until they put all the Canadian teams in 1 division. Now the Flames don't look so surefooted any longer....Markstrom has to repeatedly face his old team full of young vim and vigor, A juiced up Habs team, A solid Leafs team, and Conor McDavid 10 f'n times (which will be awesome  :flashfap: ).

I have no idea how this is going to turn out...all I know is that an all Canadian division gives me wood! :woop:

So lets start off where we left off by punting the Jets in the nuts tonight and go from there.

With Lindholm as 2C and Bennett as 4C, they've robbed from Peter to pay Paul: less wing depth, and two quasi-centres up the middle.

Personally, I think that's the way you have to do it in the cap era. The Pens have been at their very best in the Crosby/Malkin era when they spent their cap room on a really good third line center rather than better wingers for their two star pivots. The Stars don't have a ton of scoring talent or depth, but I don't think their run was a pure fluke, and if nothing else they were extremely deep down the middle with Seguin/Pavelski/Hintz/Faksa.

The Avalanche did the opposite...and frankly they will probably regret that.

Yeah but Lindholm and Bennett aren't natural centres, are they?

Apparently this team hasn't won a home opener since 2009....well that continues. They started off well enough and gave me an opportunity to tweak my Budweiser Red Light. But that was it. They were lucky to salvage a point in that one as they were outplayed the rest of the way. Only 1 game so nothing much to cry about yet.

Well that's that. This team is a wildly inconsistent, incohesive, fragile shit show and a fire sale is needed.

Hats off to Brad....he's tried everything but its clear the problem is the core he's built around.

I expect a full house cleaning.

I know I don't watch any games in the Central...but if anyone is keeping track Sam Bennet has 13 points (5 G, 8 A) in 9 games with the Cats. He is also a plus 11.

With the Flames this year he was a -12 12 points in 38 games.

That should really tell you all you need to know about this team.

Milan should have that C.....that guy has won me over again this year.

With Darryl back? Get ready for fun hockey in Cowtown...

Darryl signed a 3 year deal so I would imagine he has at least the first half of next year to bore the hell out of everyone.

Put down the pipe. Habs need about 2 more points to officially nail this down. Time to start thinking about the expansion draft! Milan waves his NMC....Thank you! And don't protect Gio either.

Although he's a UFA, the Kraken may just want to take local boy Derek Ryan and sign him long-term. He played well against the Habs, so I assume he's still got gas in the tank.

Definitely won't be a fire sale, not with Marky signed long-term now.

I can't imagine Johnny Hockey will be back. Just doesn't fit what the Flames want. Could they swing some sort of deal with Philly?

Would Calgary boot Treliving in favor of Gorton?

So how many games with the Canucks is it? Depends on where you look.....could be 3 could be 5 if you try to figure out what the hell TSN is doing.

Either way Montreal needs 1 point to make those games meaningless and crush this nonsensical sliver of a dream. Frankly, I have no desire to see the Nucks and Flames play more than twice while the rest of the league hangs out waiting.

Stupid....so we get 4 meaningless games in the North between Calgary and Vancouver.

Meanwhile NA starts their playoffs on 5/15.

Finally, this ends today with another early game against the Canucks. Oddly enough I have partially watched these games....not with eyes glued but they have been on the screen.

My expectation of the North division being so awesome never took root. What I thought would be growing rivalries ended up being boredom in familiarity for both fans and players. I like the idea but 10 times is too much.

Lot of work needs to be done in Calgary and Vancouver for that matter. Nothing very positive to say about another failed season so I won't.

Stay tuned for the changes.

Treliving says Markstrom was concussed this season, and Tanev played through a torn pectoral and broken ribs.

Fuck's sake STOP THIS. Both guys should not have played unless they were cleared 100%. I get playing through bumps and bruises but anything that rises to this level of seriousness should not be allowed back on the ice.
