Well here is the Hurricanes take on it. I really don't want this clogging up the Expectations thread so here is its own animal. If we really want to get into the nuts and bolts of it there is another thread for that.

Ron Francis getting called on the carpet there.

Quote:
Current Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour, previously an assistant under Peters in Carolina, confirmed Jordan's account on Wednesday.

"Talking about the incident with Bill, it for sure happened, the two issues that are in question," he told reporters in New York before a game against the Rangers.

"But, to me, it's what happened after that I'm proud about, actually. The way the players handled it and the way the sports staff handled it, which was bring it to management right away and then management handled it correctly and never heard of it again. And never saw anything after that. It was definitely dealt with, in my opinion, correctly. That's not something we talk about because it's not part of our issue. We've definitely moved past that."

Again...it looks like the reason for the delay is that the team is getting its ducks in a row with the lawyers and Peters contract (to pay or not to pay).

Peters "resigns," and I'm guessing the Flames shut up about the matter going forward. Treliving refused to comment as to whether the Flames still have to pay him or not.

Yes...I actually thought that the letter was a key move on Peter's part as the Flames were trying to find a way to not pay him based on conduct. This way....the club saves face, Peters gets paid maybe not all of it but some of it and the whole incident is moved beyond as quickly as possible. If the league wants to do something about it further well that's on them.
