From what I heard on NHL Radio it's just a staring contest now, and it'll be Gaudreau and his camp who blink. I'm guessing some sort of bridge deal will be reached. Brian Burke and Brad Treliving are not about to completely upend their own salary structure and set a new precedent for kids fresh off their ELC.

Fun fact: The agent who represents Gaudreau is apparently the same guy who represented Martin St. Louis when he played for the Flames, and they made it sound like he's enacting his revenge on them now for dissing his client.

He's restricted, so it would have to be a straight trade scenario - correct?

Monahan just signed for 7 years at around $6.4 Million per year, so they would likely leverage JG's contract against those numbers. In this case, it's looking closer to $8 Million per, than $7 Million per for Johnny Hockey.

And with a moniker like that, how could you pay him any less?

You mean to leverage a trade of some sort?

Johnny will get his $$$$ but he ain't gettin' it right after his ELC. He should sign the bridge deal and be done with it.

Pretty much the only thing he can do other than signing and playing for the Flames is bolt for Europe...I'd be pretty shocked if he did that.

Nobody is going to give him an offer sheet for that kind of $, so yeah, he can demand a trade, play in Europe, or sit out. Or, take a bridge, and then hit the open market with his pants unzipped...

Well.......they did say they would have him signed prior to Wednesday......so we'll see.

Apparently taking veiled shots on social media seems to be the way to express your frustration nowadays.

Good on the Flames for not caving. I mean, what recourse did he have, really?

Reportedly if the Flames hadn't signed Johnny they were ready to ice a top line with Linden Vey on it. :?

Boy I predicted that Elliott would be a disappointment in Calgary but not THIS soon...

Elliott was brutal. Mind you, the Flames defensive structure was useless.

That was a terrible game! Versteeg on the first line! Say it ain't so Flamedom! Elliott a disaster.....admittedly I am not the stallion I used to be and I was good and passed out by the time this game came on (Matthews had stolen all my mojo)....I did manage to drift in and out even letting out a half asleep all right when they scored 2x SHG. Thankfully I was fully passed out when the game got out of hand.

That Grossman guy was downright rotten!

Did I read correctly that Nik Grossman played more minutes than Dougie Hamilton!?!?!!?!?!?

:wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

And they were commenting last night on Twitter at how worn out poor Gio was having to cover for Wideman all night. Unreal.

Gulutzan may have been the only guy on Calgary's side to do a worse job than Elliott...well, that's arguable, but you get my point.
