With the Flames improved depth, he was exposed via the waiver process but wasn’t claimed.
“He cleared waivers,” Hartley said. “He’s not the first one. We’re in one-on-one meetings yesterday and today, so we’re going to meet with Mason. We already have a plan. We meet with our guys many times throughout training camps and during the regular season. It’s kind of a message. He has to take it in a positive way. He’s ours. Many guys went on waivers to go and fight it back and have great careers. This guy can be a big part of our hockey club.”
Raymond is hoping for much of the same.
“There’s so much out of your control,” he said. “My control is smiling, going out there, having fun, playing hockey. I don’t know what the future holds. I’ll work my butt off wherever it is. For right now, it’s right here. I’m going to have fun doing it. This is the game that I love.”
