For Rene Bourque......

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=384922

I often said a few years back I really wanted this guy on our team to stay. A little too late though. He's going to have to steel up to deal with being on this team again. If he thinks the Habs were losers just wait!

Apparently there is some other jobber and a 2nd rd pick in 2013 going the Habs way.

A ridiculous move to make while the Habs were making a comeback in Boston. A little backstory is the chatter was all over the bench of the Habs in the 3rd....that's dumb.

I would figure having an outspoken, struggling player mysteriously disappear in between periods would be a strong motivator.

I don't know about you but having a teammate magically disappear in between periods would be distracting to me.

as is the case with speculation it appears

Quote:
Cammalleri, who has a limited no-trade clause, was traded to the Calgary Flames along with Karri Ramo and a fifth round pick in 2012. In return, the Canadiens acquired Rene Bourque, Patrick Holland and a second round pick in 2013.

GMs need to be aware of the current social web state. The moment somebody gets wind it is on the wire and common knowledge. A far cry from running my trade ticker back in the day!

Kinda wished the Avs had pounced. If Bourque was all that was needed we could've surely given something better.

I'm sure if a GM would have offered less Goats would've jumped on that deal.

I think Brandon Yip would've done it for Gauts.

BTW, Rene Bourque (from Lac La Biche) speaks no French, but the prospect Patrick Holland from Lethbridge is fluent thanks to 9 years in French Immersion. I find this quite hilarious right now.

I know it's Wikipedia, but on his page it says Bourque does speak French...?

Count me in among the majority who had assumed he was Québécois. He doesn't even have the anglo first name like Bryan Trottier, or the ambiguous first name like Patrick Marleau.

Was surprised to see that apart from the postseason, Cammalleri and Bourque are fairly comparable stats-wise. But I think Cammalleri is a better fit in Calgary than he is in Montreal; likewise, I hope Bourque gets a new lease on life in Montreal - he hasn't been the same since signing that contract in Calgary...

The rights to Karri Ramo were also part of this deal. I can only hope he makes it to the NHL so we can see stuff like this:
