You know I was doing some checking and I think this is a big deal........

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the Flames have a chance to ice arguably the first non-caucasian forward line in NHL history.

Mayers, Dawes and Iginla.

I am a big proponent of giving credit where credit is due. I know in Canada its not a big deal to be bi-racial but here in the states I still get people checking out my kids.

This is big news and damn it I want to see it unfortunately it will have to wait until Dawes comes back. A positive among negatives!

Wait a minute I am most definitely wrong....I recall an Edmonton team.......Anson Carter, Laraque and Grier....I cannot confirm that they all played on 1 line together at any given time however they were all on the same team at the same time. Sean Brown was also on that team so that renders this moot.

Oh Damn it I was trying to find a positive.

Well even if its not the first I think its still positive.

All three of those guys surely have one white parent, though, right? From a distance you wouldn't really know any of them were minorities.

True, but Carter,Grier, and Laraque have both black parents, which would make that a true first if they ever did play on the same line.

I was trying to look up whether or not Bryan Trottier (part Métis, that counts right?) and Jim Paek were ever linemates in Pittsburgh, which would come kinda/sorta close.

Part Metis means you are part bi-racial, so it's down to a quarter or so. Of course, I'm not sure what really matters at that point. Ethnic purity is a myth.

Yeah, if Bryan Trottier is a visible minority than the term itself goes out the window.

He clarified that he was being called up by Minnesota, whose next game is in Calgary. It was just reported in ambiguous language.
