I can't find the link to the story, so here's his HF profile.

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/jimmy_vesey/

The Sabres have until August to sign him. You can bet Jack Eichel will be part of the pitch.

Poor Preds...they just can't catch a break when it comes to situations like this. About the only guy who's showing undying loyalty to the franchise is the guy whose wife is a musical icon.

Just glad he's not going to Toronto or Boston. That would've been boring.

Read on an Isles blog that the Sabres supposedly plan to offer Stamkos 7 years at $12 million per. :aaaaa: That's insane. Might as well go ALL in, and trade something to get exclusive rights so they can give him an 8th year.

And Vesey takes a look at the contracts signed on July 1 and says "Nope, gonna test the market."

Too lazy to post the Twitter link.

I kinda hate this NCAA FA business.

Montreal Franco media is touting the Habs as a darkhorse. Considering how crazy their summer has been already, I wouldn't doubt it.

I'm reading on HF that his agent is trying to secure the promise of future contracts after the first one is signed. Can he do that!?

I've heard all kinds of offers being made so far. Isles supposedly told him he'd be on Tavares' wing. They can't even talk to him yet, or it would be tampering! So much BS on the hindernet.

You can have a handshake deal for future contracts, but you can't sign anything on it, or it would be tantamount to negotiating before you're allowed to. Isles can't talk to Tavares yet about his next extension, other than to assure fans he won't get to free agency. That's as far as they can go. So no, the agent can't rightfully get a guarantee of a next contract.

Also, the kid hasn't even played a game in the NHL yet!

That's my big problem with all these NCAA free agents. The bidding war just gets ridiculous. For ever Torey Krug or Kevin Hayes there's a Tyler Bozak or Matt Gilroy.

Wouldn't Bozak be a pretty good NCAA free agent?

Not really. Not the bust Gilroy was but certainly not the player he was projected to be.

Gilroy's not a bust! He did fairly okayish with his 2nd KHL team in 2 years, after 5 NHL teams in like 4 years...

Bozak's not a bust. NHL-quality player for six seasons so far.

Okay, not a bust, but still not the player he was projected to be, and certainly not a top-line C.

Though it is absolutely uncanny how good he is on the breakaway.

Vesey wants to stay in the NE. Boston media says he probably doesn't want to deal with hometown media scrutiny.

So that leaves: the NY-metro teams, Buffalo, Toronto, Philly

Who projected Bozak to be a top-line C? Who projected him to be anything more than he already is besides the Leafs brass with that contract?

Well that's true but he was supposed to be a two-way threat and that hasn't necessarily been the case. Believe me, dude's a DU alum, if there was anyone pulling for the guy it was me.

Even his deal is fine for what he brings think it is around 4.25. Never saw him considered 1st line potential till he became the leafs defacto one due to not having a real one.

Sounds like he had a very long meeting with the Bruins, after meeting with other teams.

So at this point it sounds like the odds are:

Bruins - 99%
Sabres- 0.01% He would have signed long ago if he was interested.
Blackhawks- 0.1%
Red Wings- 0.00% (Apparently he told them they're too far from home, but Chicago wasn't told that???)
Penguins- 0.1%
Devils- 0.2% They may suck, but he'll have a shot at the top line because of it.
Rangers- 0.39%. His buddy Hayes went to visit him.
Isles- 0.2% Tavares went to visit him.
Leafs- whatever % I have left over, if any. I'm too lazy to check. And like I said, it's like 99% Bruins.

Well, looks like Hayes brought the good pitch. Vesey is now greasey. A filthy bastard Ranger. :chairshot:
