Well we all know I like my Patty. I hope Nolan brings less drama this time.

"LaFountain"....awesome.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=436517

So why in hell was Darcy even allowed to make a major trade right before his ouster? That seemed to everyone who had an ounce of sense that he was going to be headlining this rebuild. Strange.

Rolston was given a shit team, but even then he clearly looked out of his league. Basically this year's Cunneyworth, a guy who had no business behind an NHL bench.

Interesting they slapped an interim tag on Nolan.

Does he live local to Buffalo still? Maybe just trying each other on out of convenience for now till a new GM is found and can call the shot on coach.

And here I thought Pegula was going to be a much better owner than Golisano. Whoops. I suppose he's still light-years better than Rigas.

That could just be the answer he gave to avoid specifics and sounding like he was trashing anyone.

It wasn't really Ted though, was it? Wherever the Dominator goes (ask the Detroit contingent on here) drama follows. Plus, it was a horseshit move by Dom to publicly call for Nolan's firing.

And no, I don't buy the rumor that Nolan was banging Dom's wife.

I thought Nolan was trying to get the manager fired so he could coach and manage. Naturally trying to steal your boss's job thus makes you not a popular future hire to other GMs.

I just read one of the candidates for the GM post is none other than Neil Smith. Which would be awesome since it was Smith, Nolan, and LaFontaine brought in by Wang for about a week there in Long Island.

Seriously, you just can't make this shit up.

Bourne weighs in--loves the hiring of LaFontaine, doesn't like the Nolan one.

Barnaby wants Rick Dudley brought back. He's a good hockey man. So-so record in the big chair.

That was 40 days, not a week.

I am glad to see both LaFontaine & Nolan back in the NHL. I find the Nolan hiring a little odd though. He left the Isles because he didn't want to play kids- only wanted to play vets & win. Sabers current situation doesn't exactly look like the ideal place for him, but I guess it's better than coaching Latvia.

While that may be a possibility, there are many indications (the facts that Regier was allowed to trade the team's best player and attend the GM meetings, Nolan hadn't even met Pegula until the day before his press conference) that make me think this was very spur-of-the-moment.

One of the cool things about following this--the Buffalo beat writer, Mike Harrington, is one angry dude.

I was in St Catherines today and a couple of people said he still lives there.

Well I obviously hope Ted Nolan loses his first two games here, but personally, I like this hiring a lot & believe Buffalo is going go be competitive & a pain in the ass to play against.

Grigorenko, Larsson, and Zadorov all scratched. I guess Zadorov is going back to junior. Yet another teenager the Sabres kept too long only to send them back to junior anyway.

Speaking of which, is Grigorenko the problem, or is the Sabres mishandling of him to blame?

Interesting. Dreger reports Dudley has taken himself out of the running for the job since his current deal in Montreal pays him so well.

For God's sake...does a GM search usually take this long? Have they even conducted 2nd interviews?
