No doubt it's short term.

The contract is front end loaded for a $18M pay day in years one and two.

He was also supported by a massive offense last year. I'm not sayin'....but that's a risk on a 50 point d-man coming off a career year.

Huge pressure.

The big knock on him is that he is soft defensively. In Vancouver, he was pretty sheltered from that responsibility with BXA/Hamhuis taking the bulk of the defensive load. Having Regehr there should help dramatically.

Not to mention Tyler Myers, with Ryan Miller backing them all up. At least on paper Buffalo's top 4 looks VERY good.

Now we'll see if their forward corps can return the offense back to the Drury/Briere days. Even if Kassian makes the team this year they could use some size/grit up front. The Canucks had a lot of physicality to give Ehrhoff all kinds of room to do his thing. That could be a bit of a problem in Buffalo, but I'm sure he'll at least improve the team's offense, both at even strength and on the power play.

How much do they have now to offer Richards? The way the front loaded Ehroff should be illegal, but it isn't for now and suspect they will go to that trick again on Richards and give Sather a run for his money.

Perfect storm of an owner and GM that say win now, unlimited current budget, and screw where that leaves us in four to five years time.

Buffalo now has no cap room. Time to submit a poaching RFA offer for Andrej Sekera. You can go up to $3.5m per on an offer and there's only a 2nd rounder as compensation.

The signed Mike Weber to a "multi-year deal"

Sekera filed for arbitration.

Buffalo doesn't even have the cap room at present for a backup for Miller, even if they re-signed Enroth to a league-minimum deal. I would think they're going to dump/waive some contracts in the near future. Do teams have to wait before they can send a contract through waivers?

I read somewhere (might've been HF, so take it with a salt mine) that Morrisonn was up for grabs. If the Avs hadn't already made their bed with Jan Hejda I wouldn't have minded taking a flyer on him.

Morrissonn...I forgot about him. I kinda hope they get rid of him.

Sekera and Ellis sign http://sabres.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id= ... L|BUF|home

They've also signed Enroth, no details yet.

The Sekera signing alone puts them roughly $2 million over the cap. Something's gotta give. The easy answer is that Kotalik gets sent down somehow, but I'm not sure how the rules apply in that case.

I'm betting Morrrisssonnn is definitely gone at this point. Given how well Gragnani played last postseason it shouldn't be too hard to replace him.

EDIT: Come to think of it, will Roy even be ready by training camp?

Wow. Here's something you don't hear every day. The Sabres have the league's highest payroll.
