Hendricks...SHOOTOUT WINNER! Wow, that was about the craziest shootout I've seen yet. Every time the Avs looked like they were done, one of the rookies would put them back up. And then...Matt Hendricks with a crazy shot fake that Lalime bought hook, line, and stinker. Good news...the Avs, for the most part, played their best hockey in a long while. They were awesome getting to the Sabres in the neutral zone and causing turnovers. It was a couple such turnovers that led directly to Avalanche goals. Also, 2 goals from Matt Duchene (he also scored a "third" in the shootout) and a fantastic roofer from our latest rookie sensation, Brandon Yip. Bad news...yep, once again the Avs revert to 2008-09 mode once the 3rd period starts. Another blown lead. No way in hell do we not lead in that category. Vanek was pretty awesome tonight. He had the best move I've seen in a shootout since Marek Malik's between-the-legs fake on Olaf Kolzig a few seasons ago. |
