This is just piss poor management by Chiarelli.

Why couldn't he find anyone to take Kelly, Marchand or Wideman at the draft or on July 1?

How is Chris Kelly making 3 mill a year? How is Krejci making more than Patrice! Why the fuck is Savard still being paid!

Who the shit signed Tukka Rask and Krejci to bazllion dollar contracts through 2021?

As much as I admire Chiarelli for bringing a cup to Boston this is a piss poor management debacle.

Brad Marchand is making 4.5 Million a year and Boychuck 3.4..........I would punt Marchand and never look back.

Matt Bartowski 1.2 million? Milan 6 million? They got no one to blame but themselves.

I can't imagine that keeping Marchand, Bartowski, McQuaid or Boychuk is more important than signing Krug or Smith.

They are going to have a tough time getting any return if they need to shed $ that badly. Everyone in Isles land is suggesting they use Bailey to bring back a D-man, but Bailey makes $3.3 million. They're going to have to trade a D-man or two for prospects or a serious quality for quantity.

I think at this point the phrase "Chiarelli needs to be piss tested" should come out to play.

Can Smith and Krug be offer sheeted? If they can, why the hell hasn't someone done that already?

Lucic at $6m has always been hilarious.

Haven't played enough games to be offer sheet eligible. I wondered that too. Read a rumor that Krug could be headed to the Isles for some prospects. Doubt that very much, but I'd certainly be happy with it. It would allow the Bruins to not negotiate and not have to worry about his cap space. Makes too much sense though.

Agree with that, both are worth quite a bit more than what they're getting. They must trust "the man" to come through far more than I ever would, hope neither suffers significant injury.

Bruins cut a trio of forwards today that many saw as potentially landing a roster spot: Spooner, Khokalechev, and Florek. Fact is, even after signing Krug and Smith on the cheap, the B's don't have any money to keep up an extra forward unless they deal one of the 8D on their roster. Putting Savard on LTIR gets them to about $400k of cap space for the year with 12 forwards, 8 D and Rask/Svedberg in goal.

Marchand - Bergeron - Smith
Lucic - Krejci - Eriksson
Paille - Kelly - Soderberg
Fraser - Campbell - Caron

Chara - Boychuk
Seidenberg - Hamilton
Bartkowski - Krug
McQuaid - Miller

If they could deal McQuaid that'd seem to be the move that helps the most while making the lowest possible impact on their roster. Should free up a roster spot for a forward and give them a bit of breathing room on the cap should they need it. But I think they'll start the year with this roster to maximize the potential LTIR space they can use.

Gagne and Providence face-puncher Robins is around to complete the pre-season schedule, it sounds like.
