For the record he declined Brad May, then declined Jarrko Ruutu, they finally accepted Matt Cooke, it was like Goldilocks and the three bears, he was just waiting until he found the one he could win. Then he declined Bertuzzi. Moore was assaulted for it and that was beyond the pale and Bertuzzi deserved criminal prosecution but please don't turn Moore into some sort of saint.

Probably a topic best left buried though.

Got it. Moore's no saint--I may not have admitted it at the time but that was a cheap shot he laid on Naslund. We can all agree it led to something far uglier.

Whatever the case I fucking hate the fact that we have to see this again the NHL.

That was certainly a play meant to hurt Kelly but common enough in the NHL, there was no intent to injury but in association with everything else it'll make for nice media sensationalism.

Just added injury to insult. It was an unnecessary play but agreed, everyone in the NHL does it. I still find it shocking though, growing up playing getting your knuckles rapped was common enough, but the amount of blatant hacking that goes on in the pro ranks is just crazy to me.

And here's last nights game! Look another meathead attack! This time the Dion is on it.

Let's hope the Bruins are done with this stretcher/injury business. Also lost Doug Hamilton last night.....2 more D down!

looks like Boychuk could be back for Tuesday and Miller isn't seriously hurt but...ah neither is Orpik or Marchand for that matter.

The hockey world will be lucky if Phaneuf gets 2 games. He's always gotten off easy. Must have some good Shanahan stories written down.

Even if Boychuk is okay, that's a frigging moronic hit. I'm all for big hits, but when the guy's back has been turned to you for 3+ seconds? No.

I hate Shawn Thornton in general, so I wouldn't mind seeing him get the book thrown at him, but in truth it doesn't look like he actually hit Orpik all that hard. But as Av says, a sucker punch is a sucker punch, and he should definitely be disciplined.

For the record, Orpik's hit on Eriksson looked like a headshot to me, but not particularly intentional (as I say about 99% of NHL incidents).

Av-merican wrote:
How the fuck is this not intentional!? This looks worse than Porter's knee-on-knee with Booth a while back.

Well yeah... Porter's was just unfortunate. This actually looks intentional. Though it being Brad Marchand, it's really, really hard for me to view it as an injustice.

That'd be James Kneeal. Chris plays for Ottawa.

I am assuming Boychuk.....that's why I don't understand stupid media pet names. Save that shit for the locker room and when you're having beers between people that you actually know. You never know maybe this guy hangs with the team.....even so spare the rest of us.

If Boychuk's "Wolverine" that's bullshit. Everyone knows Wolverine is a scrappy little Canadian guy, so Marchand would be a far better candidate for that nickname. The only thing Boychuk and Wolverine have in common is that they're both from Alberta.

I liked Kerry Fraser's column on this:

http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/kerry_fraser/?id=438513

It does introduce an interesting idea at the risk of offering a generic style league wide, officials as GAME SAFETY MANAGERS.

JR Would have done it too! JR is old school. He believes in the code.

The only relevant part of JR being "old school" is that he's been a dick for a long time.

It is not "the code" to hit a vulnerable player when he is down, no matter how big a shitbag said player may be. "The Code" implies honor, which apparently JR knows nothing about...which doesn't surprise me.

I remember him taking a swing at Dave Reid in the playoffs when Reid had a broken jaw. Dude's a tool.

Ok now this is ridiculous. A Crime? Who are these people coming up with this shit? I don't hear any crimes in NASCAR or football or MMA for that matter. The players can't police themselves and now the league can't police itself. What a joke.

HA! It would be great if two Nascar drivers got out & traded license, registration & insurance info after a crash. Some should do it for a spoof.
