Ok Timmy is starting to cross into certifiable loon territory. Hopefully this is just some grandstanding.......he learned from his non visit with Obama.

"His absence is more noticeable than his presence" sort of thing? Does seem kind of silly. Players get so many years to make their millions and set their family up for life. To take one of those years off just sounds dumb to me. I love my family and love spending time with them, but if I only had 3-4 more years to make millions? They'd be waiting for me to retire.

at 38 it seems tantamount to retirement. It makes zero sense for his career unless he's calling it now. Either way this brings unnecessary drama to the locker room. Track record seems to indicate that when Timmy has a podium he seizes it.

Word I heard today is he wants to spend time working with the Libertarian party for this years elections. I might think the party is nuts but I'd respect the hell out of him for making the sacrifice if it turned out to be true.

I believe he has a NTC, so either way he has a lot of say.

The NTC ends on July 1st.

If he wants to retire then retire, if he thinks at his age he can take a year off and still get it back he's nuts and I don't think he is nuts.

"Friends, family and faith." Who better to protect Tim Thomas' family from the gays than Tim Thomas?

Personally, I'm hoping he's breaking for a stint hosting late night conspiracy radio.

I would think that it would be easier at this stage of his career to be with his family, than say when he was playing in Europe
you figure he works on the road 3months, works at home 3 months, and is home off work 6 months, long playoff run not counting
unless his family lives somewhere else, like Michigan(?) ... in that case he works on the road 6 months

but still ......c'mon :colbert:

this reeks of ploy

He and Rask have the same agent ... :hrm: 1 client is seriously driving up the other's value

Ed Belfour was the man! I'm sure he still is ... somewhere!

In other goalie news (and more thread specific):

So scratch any trade to Toronto now!
