Uh, yeah...the clock has started. Even if a deal is reached, I don't think he's staying there long-term.

IF things are in context and have correct language interpretation that is some awful excuse making and teammate tossing under the bus by the young Fin.

Would think if he was a poor victim of circumstance that big money offer sheet would be in his mailbox.

He's a good player but I wonder if he'd be shopped around given that attitude. Winnipeg has enough trouble holding onto players, you would think if there were an opportunity to do some horse trading of problem Finns (cough-cough-c-Aho-gh) some options would be possible...

Statistically, Laine's claim that he's playing with worse linemates compared to if he were on another team seems to have some merit. They don't play him with Scheifele and they've had trouble finding a number two centre. Can he achieve his best with Little and Roslovic feeding him?

Things like that do affect contract negotiations, so even if it's a little selfish, it's obvious Laine or any goal scorer would want to play alongside his team's best playmaker.

It does but If Laine wants a ten million deal or so deal then the players he has been with should have been enough for him to produce.

I think someone said Bryan Little assisted on, like, ten of his 110 goals or something. That's awful.

He's not going about it the right way, but there's some truth in what he's saying. The Jets made a terrible mistake keeping Little at center when they should've switched him back to wing, and then made an even worse one by re-upping him. They've spent the last two deadlines trading for upgrades at C because he wasn't/isn't good enough.

So while Laine may be coming off like kind of an entitled jerk, he's not wrong.

The Jets have had a miserable time finding a second line centre over the years, so they know what Laine knows.

With Buff possibly out a while, it could open things up for them to make a move. Not sure who's on the market who can step in at centre, though.

That's pretty fair for both sides.

Hurt in the playoffs, not signed long-term. Could this be the offseason the Jets trade Laine?

I'm not sure where Chevy goes from here. They're a really bad defensive team that has an elite goalie to keep them in games, but they were also middle-of-the-pack in terms of offensive output. To me, what will ultimately be Chevy's undoing is that he waited way too long to go for it. That and he gave big money to Bryan Little even though he wasn't an adequate answer as the team's 2nd-line center and had to make a couple big deadline deals two years in a row to address that.

I suppose Laine's the best trade chip this team has. And I don't think Laine likes it in Winnipeg anyway. That said, I also don't think you're getting anything other than some nice futures. You're not addressing the team's two biggest issues (depth at center, defensemen) by trading him.

The ship may have sailed on this Jets team, which would be a shame because they had some really talented players but could never gel at the same time.

If the Wild are looking to deal Dumba, Chevy would be wise to make a call. They need someone to replace Buff on the backend. They seemed to like Demelo and Beaulieu, so they could be back.

I could also see them wanting Domi to fill that centre void, but not sure a Roslovic type would tempt the Habs.

Jets dump two problem guys and land a second number one centre.

Losing Laine will sting, but Schiefele/Dubois is an elite 1-2.

They're also better set up for the cap next year. This year they got pinched and just couldn't help their defence.

And now our watch has ended. At least in this forum, anyways.
