Jacob Trouba is IMO going to be the real star of that blueline. Every time the puck lands on his stick it just seems like it ends up in the attacking zone or a big play happens. He's too young for this year's edition of Team USA but no doubt he'll make the 2018 squad...if there is still NHL participation of course.

Trouba is coming on just as Enstrom should be scaling back, kind of works nicely for the Jets in that sense.

Add in his super-offensive contributions... Dude's a stud. I'd build a D around him more than I would around Suter or Yandle.

My American D: McDonagh, Byfuglien, Shattenkirk, Suter, Martin, Niskanen, E. Johnson. 8th D is a pick 'em of Goligoski, Yandle, Carlson, Carle or a young 'in like Faulk, Fowler or Gardiner. Jones is a bit too young. I might also be inclined to sub out one of Martin/Niskanen/Johnson for a more dynamic offensive player, Martin being the obvious sub out right now due to his injury, which could hinder his mobility even if he's back playing.

Your lack of Jack Johnson is astounding. Your list has zero credibility.

Back in the 2010 and 2011 playoffs, and many broadcasts of Phoenix games I've seen, Yandle has always been slobbered over. I remember not being very impressed by him in those 2 playoffs specifically, and if I recall, 1 of them with him looking particularly bad. Can't remember if it was the 7-gamer or the sweep.

Sask I hope you know that I was kidding around with the Jack Johnson comment. It sounds like they actually wanted to get him on the team:

Quote:
"I think we have tried to put Jack Johnson on this team, but it was never quite on merit," Poile told the group. "Jack has played better of late, but never had the consistency or level to be as good as Fowler or these top eight."

Poile asked if there was any "push-back" on the decision to leave off Johnson. Even Johnson's supporters offered no complaint.

Desperation time for the Jets--Noel moves Byfuglien to the top line with Ladd and Little.

Meanwhile, defensive barn door Keaton Ellerby continues to hold a spot on the blueline.

The NHL is getting worse.

The NHL's getting back to its pre-lockout, boring ass ways.

Holy shit. As if Pavelec hasn't done enough to prove he sucks.

Enough already. Just trade him if you don't want him.

I like Kane but its been dicey for him this year......his "hand injury" a few months back that really was nothing at all and now Maurice saying he just needs to "just come to the rink"

http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2014 ... er=ya5nbcs

Calgary needs him! Shit we'll take Buff too.....not sure why the B's didn't make a play for him.

Honestly I think its a problem with the team and the management. These two just need a change of scenery. The talent is there.

Don't look now, but the Jets are doing pretty darn good all of a sudden. Byfuglien looks like he's back on D for good, but that might only be due to the long term injury to Trouba.

I guess I didn't give them enough credit for the acquisitions of Frolik and Perreault. Very nice depth pickups. And that's something when your three best defenders are out and the team isn't plummeting. Well, maybe not three best (not a fan of Bogosian, but he doesn't suck) but you get the idea.

Also, Hutchinson looks like the starter they hoped Pavelec would be.

With Mark Stuart now also out until February, the Jets make a trade: Jay Harrison for a 6th rounder.

That's it? Seriously? Carolina even retained salary.

I know Harrison's no star but I didn't think he sucked either.

Buff out 2-4 weeks with an upper body injury at a really bad time.

Same with Bryan Little.

Holding onto a playoff spot by the skin of their teeth (2 points) with the Kings looking for a way in.

Seriously, things couldn't get any easier for the Kings to get in. Calgary without Giordano and Winnipeg without Little/Byfuglien. Imagine LA trying to get in without Carter and Doughty.

Not sure this is a symmetrical comparison. Would much rather have Carter and Doughty on my team ....

He's just saying they're two of Winnipeg's best players and that their chances of clinching a postseason berth will be really tough without them.

Oh no, the Jets and Blues were tied 4-4 with a minute left in a must-win game for the former and Ondrej Pavelec, the goalie who keeps hanging on, let in a Barret Jackman beach ball dump in.

Might cost them a playoff birth. What a shame.

They've no one to blame but themselves. Pavelec should've been a compliance buyout.
