This does sound a heck of a lot different than what we've heard from the NHL about other markets. Well, other markets that aren't pushing for a new arena, that is.

Just listened to two different Atlanta writers do radio spots about how they think the Thrasher are gone, but it is unfair as the team always sucked.

On that note I am tired of hearing about how these markets need a chance with a winning team. Easy to say when your not the one losing boat loads of money. If your so sure the market will work why can no one with a 100 million to spare give or take is interested and see your obvious arguments. It's simple find ownership and I will believe the market has a chance and all other hypothetical mean nothing and will never be realized.

In addition to Hotlanta being a terrible sports market (The Braves were division winners ~15 years in a row, and they still have trouble drawing), the Atlanta Spirit group have been locked in litigation pretty much since day one, so it's not like there was any strong ownership capable of building a strong bond with the community.

Sadly, it might have been that litigation that kept the franchise there as long as has been, even though it has also kept them from keeping key assets (Savard).
