I'm not all that concerned about the size of them. They might fit better visually if they are smaller but they are fine as they are if you want them to stand out.

It will be a little more complicated now that this board is moving. Still doable, but it would be kinda sucky.

I figured as much...kind of a one shot deal before we started posting all over this hizzzaaatch....

Chuck, can we customize the number of posts per page?

I think we also need a Wood post icon :)

So are you serious old man? You think linking back cuts it?

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=70

Well whatever I suppose....I've only made a few topics so far........I'd imagine it would take a reset. I suppose if I had known what I was doing before I entered in the name servers and tried to go all balls to the wall we could have carried that over with far less headache....

But then again as Chuck eluded to that required the Original ADMIN to make the request. If you are the original admin TCL I am assuming that you don't want to do this? It couldn't hurt to have a back up anyway....even if we don't apply it here. Its $10.

We'd be losing 2 days of data here compared to 1 year over there.....

Do we really need to have it in here? phpbb will maintain it, i'm guessing, indefinitely, so why spend the money to back it up and chuck's time to merge the databases? What possible benefit is there to having it in here? It's a good time to start fresh - new season, new look...

I think when we went from Gen I to II, the only thing I recall missing is some functionality which, thanks to chuck, we now have back. Anyway, that's just my perspective. If anyone feels strongly about it, I don't object; I just don't see the need to do it if phpbb will continue to have it up.

The only thing I wonder about the Gen II site is if it becomes cluttered with spammers again as it just sits there... kind of like a yard left abandoned and the grass gets left uncut, the gardens just turn into weeds, weird creatures start to take up residence... no one wants to maintain that anymore, so it could get ugly. If we have a backup, we at least have a preserved, pristine version of it.

Just my opinion but I would rather have it backed up and closed. Its not very clean like this....

But again I can't gauge how much time and effort goes into this. Like I was saying......if we reset this board to the copy of Gen 2...we are only losing 2 days on this board. I personally would rather do that and be done with the old one. That to me seems like the path of least resistance where Chuck really wouldn't have to do much.

At that point we're not asking him to merge it.

Not really sure what you are fighting me on here. I would be spending the money. But I would need the original admin of Gen 2 to make the request.

I'm not certain but wasn't Jyrki21 the original admin on Gen II? It certainly wasn't me.

I'm not fighting you here, Harmie. Just pointing out a different perspective.

No, actually, I was. But Ian basically ran the show, the only time I ever really "admined" anything it was to make him an admin. Cali created the site originally then handed me the login.

Sorry old man...poor choice of words. Hey I am just throwing out ideas.....but if we were to reset the place......well uh.....we better do it now otherwise we (or maybe I) might as well forget it.

Its a window of opportunity that's closing fast. But ultimately I can only suggest as I don't make the changes.

As it goes it seems I am the only one making a stink of it anyway...so I'll consider our half-assness better than no-assness.....
:D

Well a quick visit to Gen II reveals that we were smart indeed to make the jump. On top of the uber-annoying "You have 1 message" chirping ad there's the super-uber-annoying "Congratulations, you won a Wal-Mart gift certificate!!!" My God...I would've shut the fucking site down right then and there...well not really.

Thanks be to Chuck! I'm sure you're not quite sick of the praises yet, right? :woop:

BTW...should we split this topic about what to do about Gen II apart from the general forum junk thread? Just a thought...

Actually, I'm kind of curious as to how long it will stay up before they realize we've abandoned it...
