Habs dominated the first, and Vanek's not even here.

We never talk about how awesome it is that the Ducks have a player named Fowler.

Gotta say that I love watching Saku take a bad hooking penalty late in the game...

Brings back so many memories.

Not big shot from the point or body in front of the net.

Good debut by Tokarski tonight.

Habs beat the best home team in the league in their barn. With an AHL goalie in net. Trying hard to not get too excited here.

Tinordi had a great night. Didn't play a tonne, but he played a some tough shorthanded minutes and threw his body around.

I think Tinordi and Beaulieu hurt themselves by both being ready at the same time. It's hard enough to work a young defenceman into the lineup, let alone two.

Emelin started off slowly (two bad penalties), but he rebounded and ended up having a solid game. I really do think he'll be great going forward, once he's a year removed from surgery.

Plekanec almost played 26 minutes, so you can bet Eller will be back in tomorrow.

Tokarski wasn't very popular round these parts back in 2009. Neither were Pietrangelo and Markstrom.

I was higher on McDonagh than Subban, too. I thought Subby was inconsistent initially.

I was right that the team didn't have a good shutdown pairing, but they sure would've if they used one of Subban or Pietrangelo on it. Aulie/Teubert/Hickey were used. Yeah.

You can only be as good at evaluating as the team allows you to be. :)

At that point, Subban was inconsistent. He made fancy plays instead of safe ones for the sake of being fancy.

Would Subban and Pietrangelo have made a good shutdown pairing at that point? Probably not. Pietrangelo sure didn't look like he was going to turn into a star NHL defenseman.
