No other reason to pay attention to the Ducks, right?

Getzlaf is in the final year of his deal, slated to make $6.125 million. Perry, also in the final year of his deal, is slated to make $4.875 million. According to NHLnumbers.com, that is (yes, I still use them and not CapGeek, sue me).

It has been indicated that the Ducks are not a cap team now and probably won't be even when it falls to $60 million next year. This looks increasingly like a situation like Tampa, where they had no choice but to spend large on their veteran superstars, but then had little budget left to actually ice a good team.

The good news for Murray, I suppose, is that he still has some decent young prospects despite trading one away in a ridiculously bad deal with the Leafs. He also has a lot of cap space tied into old men that's coming off the books after this season.

But then there's the question: Even if the Ducks do make a max offer to both players...do they even want to stay?

Anyway, go ahead, Leafs fans...make your pitches.

My pitch as a Leaf fan is to wait and hope they make UFA and worry about it then.

Can't imagine the Ducks without both of these guys moving forward. Selanne will already be gone at the end of this season...

Probably Saku as well.

The Ducks probably could blow it up and bounce back pretty quick if indeed a lot of their developing talent pans out.

My prediction, for whatever it's worth: They succeed in signing one, but not both. I'm guessing Getzlaf ends up in Toronto, and Perry stays.

Getzlaf comes to the Wings. Corey Perry fucks off and retires. Make it happen.

You need to send Bertuzzi the other way on a trade deadline deal. HF style!
