Zegras, Drysdale, Lundestrom. That's your core. Everyone else should be up for grabs, including Gibson. Not saying they HAVE to deal everyone else, just saying they should at least listen on trades for those guys.

Of course, it's Murray, so it ain't happening.

Gibson's only 27 so I don't think you deal him. Who do you replace him with?

I'm torn about dealing Gibson. Depends on the haul.

It's hard to tank and climb back up to respectability. Gibson at least gives you a shot most nights. Could help the kids to not have to worry about beach balls going in.

But if he can get you another three players for the rebuild, maybe you do it now?

An elite goalie does sooooo much for your club, but it can also mask front office laziness and/or incompetence. Look at what the friggin' Rangers did the whole time they had Henrik Lundqvist. He gave them everything he had and they served up mediocre roster after mediocre roster for him to bail out every night.

Also, there's a huge issue with Gibson--dude is nearly Pascal Leclaire-level injury prone. I say deal him now while you can, before he REALLY gets banged up and turns into, well...Carey Price.

Competition is heated for the rights to acquire Nicolas Deslauriers. Yes, really!

Rangers want him to punch Tom Wilson. Other teams want him for a similar reason. He doesn't fall down when he skates and can punch people. He'll go for a 1st...

He's such a terrible player. That's the issue--Wilson is by no means a star but he can take a shift on the Caps' top line without embarrassing himself. No one can find a guy who is both of those things--an imposing goon willing to hurt guys and seems impossible to take down, and someone who can actually play hockey.

Pat Verbeek named GM, but more importantly Scott Niedermayer and Paul Kariya are back in the fold as right hand men. Love to see it. A new Duck Dynasty is rising in Orange County.

Ryan Getzlaf will retire at the end of the season. Played his whole career living the dream in Orange County. Won a Cup, Olympic Gold and still playing decent at 36. This is Zegras' team now.

I actually thought Getzlaf was older than 36. But yeah, good for him. Great overall career and retiring while he'll still be remembered fondly.

Interesting, the Ducks opt to exercise the option on Dallas Eakins contract. That means he's back for at least one more season. I thought for sure he was a goner and Bouchard was gonna get a shot here but it turns out they either like what they saw from Eakins at the beginning of the year or, since they're finally resigned to a proper rebuild, they may as well keep the guy around for a couple more years until the time is right.

Big offseason domino: John Gibson likely on his way out.

First 30 games for the Ducks..

•1 regulation win
•On pace for 46 points
•-60 goal differential
•32nd in goals for, 32nd in goals against
•Held lead for just 11.2% of total game time

One regulation win, that is insane, especially since both goalies have been healthy up until recently. Even the Avs and their record-setting awful season did not truly go off the rails until Varlamov went down for the season.

I think they'll find a way to eke out a few wins and make it past 50 points, but it's clear they've given up already. Hopefully for their sake they're rewarded with a nice, shiny Connor Bedard. Having him, Zegras, and Lundestrom up the middle would make them quite formidable.

Trevor Zegras says something in this scrum to send Troy Stecher completely over the edge. Reportedly when pointing upward he made a reference to Stecher's deceased father.

https://www.hockeyfeed.com/nhl-news/rum ... s-dead-dad

Normally I like a cocksure guy like Zegras, but this is one of those things an undersized, underweight skill guy should simply not be doing, and it's an absolute dick move to boot. If this ends up painting a giant target on his back going forward, he has no one to blame but himself this time.

Not that there's much to talk about in Anaheim these days but Joel Eriksson Ek's brother, Olle, will make his NHL debut between the pipes today.

Troy Terry is the first of the young core to get paid: 7x7.

Zegras and Drysdale are next. Zegras probably gets 8x8, while Drysdale has been hurt and hasn't really become the guy yet. Bridge deal?

They also blew a stack on Killorn after blowing a stack on Strome.

There are generations of hockey people, both in and out of the league who love the film "The Mighty Ducks." I am definitely not one of them and absolutely hated it when Disney parlayed the success of the film into an expansion NHL franchise.

THAT SAID, the Ducks broke out their 30th anniversary throwback sweaters last night in all their eggplant-and-jade glory, and I can't lie, they looked absolutely gorgeous. And the all-purple look IMO was better than if they had gone with green pants like they used to wear.

Anaheim currently sports the objectively worst uniform in hockey, so it's kinda frustrating knowing they have a surefire winner and only bring it out sparingly. Maybe they'll figure it out by the time they're ready to contend.

The original Mighty Ducks movie isn't that bad for a kids' hockey movie. D2 & D3 should have never made it past the suggestion phase. Awful in every way.
The show... Yikes. Only reason I watched it at all was because Miss18.2 was finally wanting to watch something hockey related.

Sure enough the Ducks find a way to annoy everyone in the league.

Look, I get that Verbeek wants to spell Leo Carlsson now and again to lighten the workload and avoid rookie burnout, but to scratch him against the Jackets on Frozen Frenzy night when fans might actually pay attention to these two clubs (Carlsson vs. Fantilli) is just asinine.
