Enough of these come up every year that I figured a thread would make sense. First up, http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hoc ... rt-jerseys Seinfeld "puffy sleeve jersey" night. Couldn't that also be Marty McSorely night? |

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck- ... 42407.html The unveiling of Scorch, the Adirondack Flames new mascot, didn't go so well. I'm pro-Scorch, by the way. I'm like Barney Stinson always cheering for the villains in movies. |

This looks like an idea that someone threw out there jokingly as the worst idea possible, and people just didn't realize that they were joking. |

So we fired him and are running with it!" |

And in actual Flames game news, Trevor Gillies beat up a guy who doesn't fight, and slammed his head into the ice when the guy turtled. So they're off to a great PR start. And this is a new team for the area. The Phantoms (Flyers affiliate) had been in Glens Falls for a few years while their Philly arena was renovated. |

I saw the UHL All-Star game there during one of the lockouts (9 years ago), preceded by an Adirondack Red Wings alumni game. That was neat. Only reason I was in town- my friend lives a town or two over and he goes to see games. |

They should have Scorch removing items from a burned out store & play "Burning & Looting" in the background. Why not? Sounds like a great PR move. EDIT- instead they've extinguished Scorch: http://poststar.com/news/local/flames-t ... ac487.html What a shame. He started out so promising. |

Relatedly, in March I'm going to head down to Utica with a Hab-fan friend to see the Comets and Bulldogs battle it out in the renovated Memorial Aud. I'm actually more psyched for this than seeing the Canucks here in December. |

OK, this is pretty awesome: CBC.ca wrote: The Toledo Walleye and Evansville Icemen of the East Coast Hockey League wore special hero-themed hockey sweaters on Saturday night as part of a charitable endeavour. The Walleye players were dressed in Batman jerseys, while the Icemen countered with uniforms resembling the Riddler. This event was intended to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Batman's presence in comic books. There was a fight, too, but no batarangs were used: |

That is pretty cool. SPHL's Cottonmouth's had 2 women ref a game. As luck would have it- Shannon Svabatos got her first pro win in the game. Pretty cool. |
