Thought for sure St. John's had a winner there, I know they had struggles previously with the SJ Maple Leafs and IceCaps or whatever they were called, but I thought this one was going to make it.

The owners, who also owned the Habs' ECHL affiliate, managed to sell off that property, but could not do so with the Growlers.

I believe players under AHL/NHL contracts aren't allowed to play for another ECHL team. Those players "could" be called up to higher leagues. Right?

Can't believe they couldn't hold on to finish out the season. That sucks.
