Trade Eichel for the no. 2+ and walk away with Power and Beniers...

Only ONE team fell down a spot, that was the Ducks, who have never picked first. They'll still get a good player though.

This draft is gonna be wild...due to lack of scouting we might see a few busts, and a few surprises in the coming years.

Someone on a scouting site said Buffalo shouldn't pick Power because they already have Dahlin. Really? That's just dumb IMO. I don't see the issue with having two franchise defensemen. Apparently they have a couple other blueline prospects in the system that could make them a force in coming years...if they don't fuck it up like usual.

A bit of ugliness out of the way on the eve of the draft: prospect Logan Mailloux withdraws from selection after it's made public that he was guilty of a "revenge porn" sort of situation while playing in Sweden.

Dude probably saw how things went with Mitchell Miller last year and wanted to save himself the embarrassment.

I'm not going to say whether he should be forgiven or not forgiven--that's beside the point here and it's not my call. What I hope is that he does the work toward being a better human being.

Like the Miller situation, I just wish these kids owned up to their mistakes without reservation in a way that satisfies the affected people. Kids fuck up, it's a fact of life, but you gotta show remorse in a genuine way. The girl in this case says his apology was terse.

Isles first pick was 52nd (2nd round) and they got Aatu Raty, a center who was a top 10 projection for a long time but had some issues this year where he was trying far too hard in practice, making mistakes by trying to skate too fast, etc. So a lot of people are now pissed that he fell so far and the Isles got him. Sounds like a good pick. He's under contract this year in Finland and says he'll be in the US the next year. :Butch:

Owen Power, good luck in Buffalo. The new Kraken get their first franchise player with the 2nd overall pick. Guessing that’s Matthew Beniers. Ducks get third, Devils get fourth, Jackets fifth.

Kid played for my namesake team: SK Lejon out of Skelleftea. He fucked up to be sure, but I put some of this on his agents, who handled Seravelli's interview request in a less than classy manner and likely told the kid to deflect at first. Yeah, I go back and forth on this but I think the right way to do it is to show remorse and apologize sincerely. I think we can all agree that we've made some horrible mistakes in our lives (some not just as teens) that would be just as crippling if brought into the light of day. And in some scenarios, it just isn't possible to make the affected person whole again.

After Ottawa opted for Brian Boucher's kid at 10, it's been a lot of off the board picks. Columbus did well to add Johnson and Sillinger. Ron Francis did it nice and boring with Beniers. Safe Seattle.

I don't really know what to say. Pretty clear the Habs don't really care if a guy passes around sex photos of a girl taken without permission, as long as he's good at hockey. The kid gave an unsatisfactory apology, according to the girl. His agents ducked Frank Seravalli and Katie Strang, and Bergevin kept on and on about how it's a hockey move. He also said what he did was unacceptable, but clearly he accepted it. The kid recused himself from the draft, but the adults decided otherwise. A lot of people will talk about second chances, but he's yet to face any real consequences or bumps on his road to hockey. At this stage, the kid hasn't shown remorse according to the girl he did this to, and that's what should matter right now. Bergevin only cares about hockey hockey hockey and would draft a kid who ran over his own mother if he thought it would win him a game. That's the culture of the sport, and of sports in general. Win at all costs. The Habs, nor Logan, give a fleck of shit about the girl who got humiliated.

I have a daughter and I don't care. She knows that hockey players are fucking scumbags and wouldn't spend a moment with any of them. I just think of some of the stuff I heard about Carson and Chelios and spin the Bobby and all the other misogynistic bullshit that's going on in this league. We believe in reforming young offenders. He was a young offender at 17 this information if it was happening in Canada would not nor should it be public knowledge. He's a minor he's a child. Our young offenders act is set up to protect children in that way

This passing around the pictures goes both ways. I have a client who's 28 now and both he and another family member had pictures of their genitals shared wildly in their schools. This is not uncommon. It's constantly happening in high schools. We're obviously not doing a good enough job teaching our children about the internet and pornography. In fact I think more nude photos get seen on these handheld devices than actual artwork.

Isles first pick was 52nd (2nd round) and they got Aatu Raty, a center who was a top 10 projection for a long time but had some issues this year where he was trying far too hard in practice, making mistakes by trying to skate too fast, etc. So a lot of people are now pissed that he fell so far and the Isles got him. Sounds like a good pick. He's under contract this year in Finland and says he'll be in the US the next year.

Raty is one of those can't miss kids who dominated physically at 16 and never improved as other kids caught up. Do those kids ever work out? I feel like Joensuu might've been like that, funny enough.
