I was checking the score at work and was quite annoyed to hear the US lost. Oh well.

How about those US Women though?!?!

They did win, that was awesome news. Sadly, one of them was "broadcast" with a single, unmoving fish-eye camera that made it impossible to know what was going on.

Women's hockey appears to have taken a major step back in the last year or so, just when it felt like it was gaining steam. And I think the current fractured state of the women's pro game is affecting the junior level as well, since right now the NWHL clearly does not feature the world's best players.

Anyway...the next few games on the men's side should be fun.

Agreed. I thought the US women winning gold in the olympics would get them more coverage in the US. Nope! And you're right that the NWHL doesn't have the best. I'm sure CWHL fans would argue that they never did, but when you've got the likes of Hillary Knight sitting out, the fans are losing. I haven't been able to get to any NWHL games this year due to kids' hockey schedules. The Whale play 30 minutes from me, but it's like someone purposely matched schedules so we couldn't go. Miss18.2's team got to see the Whale- as they came off the main rink in Danbury and walked to their locker room past our rink, during our game.

Romanov and Sandin look NHL ready. Loads of potential for those two.

Great games and great tournament. Hopefully I pull a draw in Red Deer this week.

:arghfist: So I get my email yada yada you've been selected to purchase tickets for the WJCs in Alberta in 2020.......Then it goes on to say the Red Deer package (which I was fine with initially) with 10 RoundRobin games (Non-Canada Pool).....really? Nowhere did it say that previously and even worse the 2 QF games in this package only include non-Canada as well. Apparently Canada plays only in Edmonton.

Hey but wait you get tickets to the best of 3 relegation round and 2 Team Canada Pre Tournament games! :fap: :arghfist:

I'll take a look at the tickets when my window opens but if there is no Canada pool play in Red Deer then I doubt it.

Thanks but no thanks Hockey Canada! :jerkbag:

They tried to pull the forced package thing in Montreal and got totally screwed. Event was a failure and they're never coming back here ever again. Montrealers are thrifty.

About the only place that kind of thing works is Toronto, no?

God, relegation rounds have gotta suck.

Hi kids! You came in dead last? That's gotta suck.

Well, you get to play at least two more games to keep your country from being exiled to the dregs of international competition!
