Sounds like it was a completely innocent play, Tucker Tynan, a goalie for Niagara, ended up getting his leg slashed open from a skate-first collision. Apparently there was A LOT of blood and the TV voice was frantic urging people to donate blood. This is every hockey parent's worst nightmare.

Ugh. It's amazing this doesn't happen more often with the speed of today's game. Hopefully he's okay!

I'm reading he underwent emergency surgery and is stable. Game has been postponed.

On Twitter there's a screencap of the blood, let's just say it is an alarming amount. Relieved as all hell this poor kid is okay.

From The Athletic article on the incident:

Quote:
There, they learned that Skinner’s skate blade had shattered all four parts of Tynan’s quad muscle, his tendons, and the surrounding blood vessels.

The good news was that the blade had stopped just shy of the bone and the femoral artery, breaking neither.

By all accounts, he was lucky to be alive.

Holy fucking shit. That's horrifying. I mean, I'm glad he's alive and sounds like he'll be okay, but holy fucking shit. Scary as hell!

He's also lucky as hell given the massive amount of structural and vascular damage that he didn't lose the leg.
