Anyone in the Vancouver area going?

No idea who's the favorite going in (thought it always has to be Canada, no?) but I hope we're not treated to nearly empty arenas for the early rounds and a bullshit outdoor game that nearly gets snowed out.

No outdoors game and the tickets are moving well. Don't expect too many empty seats. At least not for the US, Sweden, Russia, Canada games.

First star for the Tsar, Alexander Romanov. Hits, skates, scores. What a prospect.

Well since we're prospect fluffin'...

I'm told Avs 6th rounder Nikolai Kovalenko (his old man Andrei was part of the Roy trade) was player of the game in the RUS/CZE game. Keeping my eye on top line Czech winger Martin Kaut...a lot will be expected of him next season.

Despite getting blown out 5-0 all eyes were on Kazakh goalie Demid Yeremeyev.

Sweden has won 47 straight prelim round World Junior games. One gold to show for it.

I guess the Canadians know how the Russians felt a few years back now. I like to see the Swiss win!

FFS...the social media backlash during these games is getting to be a bigger deal than the games themselves. First the ridiculous attacks on Max Comtois, now everyone gets their panties in a snit over Klim Kostin's behavior. Get over yer fuckin' selves...

USA vs. Finland. Gotta admit, I wouldn't mind it if Finland wins this one. I'm a proud American and all and it'd be cool to see some really good players like the Hughes Bros, Farabee, Poehling, et al win it all, but I've got mixed feelings over the fact that USA Hockey picked John fucking Vanbiesbrouck to replace the late Jim Johansson. He shouldn't be anywhere NEAR USA Hockey, let alone in charge of the kids.

I'll get to see Jack Hughes live in about a month or so...can't wait!

Well whaddaya know...in the showdown between Jack Hughes and Kaapo Kakko it's Kakko who comes out on top with the game-winner to get the gold.

I'm actually okay with that. No offense to the kids who are undoubtedly disappointed to win silver, but...fuck John Vanbiesbrouck.

Fully agreed. As much as I want to see the US win, he shouldn't be involved.

I wasn't aware of that whole incident with Trevor Daley. How disturbing! Strange choice for such a high profile position in USA Hockey. Anyway....Finland looked great. Good to see them get the Gold. Canada, Russia and the US in next years grouping......ouch!
