Like this pick.

New Guy might have a chance against Looch.

Fuck I hope so.

Lucic will probably be on back surgery #4 by the time McCarron makes the show.

Habs pick Zach Fucale just interviewed by TSN. Kid is amazingly mature, modest and well spoken just comes across as highly intelligent and complete class act with poise well beyond his years. Quite impressive.

Sask get a goalie prospect like Sask has been lobbying for, and it's precisely the kid he doesn't want

Yep. Consensus top goalie prospect in a weakass crop. Pick a project this year and move on.

THEY PASSED ON ROBERT HAGG THREE FUCKING TIMES. ADAM ERNE ONCE. NICOLAS PETAN X3. JORDAN SUBBAN x5. :fffffuck:

Word on the street is Timmins and Bergevin were really high on Mantha and Gauthier and were pissed they were grabbed before there was chance to trade up.

There was no way Mantha should've fallen as far as he did. Gauthier isn't anything special.

I'm disappointed as all hell that while the Preds got exactly the player they wanted, they didn't get the player who would've made them watchable. It's still a great defensive group and goaltender with a bunch of speedy grinders up front. And now they're division rivals. Ugh.

Terry Frei of the Denver Post says that Colorado, Florida, and Tampa Bay will all regret passing on Jones.

Don Cherry ripped Florida for passing on a good ol' Quebecois Kid (heh heh) in favor of a Finnish kid who played in the "Ice Follies." Uh-huh.

Florida probably got the most complete player in the draft, but they didn't get the big, flashy player they need to get people engaged with the team again. But...perhaps a Huberdeau/Barkov tandem will do just that...?

So how do you think your team did at the draft? I can't really grade mine yet--obviously they did well enough with that first overall pick, but no idea as to who any of those other kids are.

So E.L., how good is André Pronovost's grandson? Sounds like the puck skills are there but effort, consistency, physicality and the defensive side needs work. That's fine, that stuff can be worked on, while the natural speed and scoring ability can't often be. Hopefully he turns out to be a better version of Eric Fehr.

My team drafted a guy with the last name Pulock. :steamingpileofcrap: Is he a lock to play like pu? I hope not. But I hadn't heard of him before that. I was hoping they'd get Furcale.

Oh well. Drafts are crap shoots, or Pulocks.

I like the kid, big body with a shot clocked over 100 mph. Played hurt all year and did well but that made it difficult to asses his true ability and potential so a bit more of a risk/reward scenario than you'd normally have for this spot.

Mantha is built to score. Not sure he can do anything else right now. Detroit's a good spot for him - they won't rush him just because he's a big kid with hands.

Will the Red Wings actually have a first rounder pan out for once?

You being sarcastic? They've traded their first rounders quite a bit, a few times to acquire more second round picks, but take a look at their first rounders for the past 15 years.

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/team ... 05492.html

2013, Mantha 20
2010, Sheahan 21
2008, McCollum 30
2007, Smith 27
2005, Kindl 19
2000, Kronwall 29
1998, Fischer 25

The only blight in there is McCollum, and even though his chances don't look good he's still 24 years old. No superstars, but those aren't expected in the 19th+ pick.

Drouin sent to juniors. MacKinnon, Barkov, and Jones remain in the NHL.

As if Yzerman didn't have enough problems. His 2nd round pick hits and injures his 1st rounder.

Well that should make for an interesting training camp next year. :munch:

Mantha is just destroying the Q this season. 35 goals in 32 games, 73 points and a 19-point lead in the scoring race. E.L. have you seen him play much this season?

Hopefully I'll get to watch him at the World Juniors.
