The funny thing is the scout quote from the TSN mock admits Grigorenko is in the same class as Yakupov skill-wise, while the knock on his work ethic is the sort of vague, Fox News-esque "some folk'll say he's a lazy bum."

Seriously, someone, anyone, go on the record and say he's a schmuck. I FUCKING DARE YOU, you backroom FUCKING cowards. Don't fucking drag some kid's name through the muck without proof. Bobby Mac couldn't get a scout, even anonymously, to say "he dogs it sometimes?" Did he even try, or is it just easier to speculate from afar?

Here's a real fucking mock, with actual scouts giving their takes:

http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/jrhock ... 50895.html

Quote:
"While watching Grigorenko, it usually doesn't take too long to notice he has all the tools you look for in a centre: He's big, a powerful skater with very fast hands and great vision and passing abilities," says Rick Springhetti, scout for Mckeen's Hockey. "I know a lot of people have called him lazy, but I think that term gets used too often for players like him. In Grigorenko's case, my biggest issue with him is that he waits around for the absolute perfect situation before making a play with the puck, so too much of his abilities are used closer to the blue line or against the boards. Defensively, it's a bit of the same thing. He tries to stay disciplined defensively and seems scared to engage and attack the puck carrier so he winds up giving opponents too much space to move around."

Damian Cox quoted an unnamed western conference GM who thinks Grigorenko is actually 20. Getting stranger by the day.

Based on all I've seen and heard thus far, I really do think Bergevin/Timmins will be targeting Q/Quebec players in this draft, which also makes sense given most of the better Q prospects this year will go in the mid and late rounds.

One local I'd love to still be around in the early second round is Pointe-Claire boy Mike Matheson, a puck moving defenceman heading to Boston College. Decent size at 6'2 as well.

Another nice 2nd round pick up would be Stanstead preppy kid and big centre Mark Jankowski, whose uncle is a scout for the Habs apparently.

And who in Quebec doesn't like France? How about Tim Bozon, Phillippe's kid?

Other Q guys I like:

Martin Frk: once highly touted Czech scoring winger. Crummy skater, potential sniper.
Dillon Fournier: former wonder boy from Dorval. Smooth skating d-man who mucked up his shoulder.
Raphael Bussieres: future grinder/pest http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_N31vh3D9I
Francis Beauvillier: he can skate
Zlobin and Hyka: overage wingers
Melindy and Culkin: developed d-men

And a shout-out to Marc Biega, the only one of his family to not get into Harvard. Enjoy Sherbrooke kid.

Born in Khabarovsk, Russia, May 1994. Is there a precedent for a lack of official documents in the Far East of Russia around the time of the Soviet collapse? I could see how this would be plausible, but without precedent, it's just hearsay. Khabarovsk isn't a complete backwater, it's a city of 500,000 that is a major transportation hub, has a KHL team, and gave the hockey world Alexander Mogilny.

Apparently Grigs has been on scouts radar since he's been 13...

I still want Galchenyuk or Murray.
