I guess no one is watching this.

Victoria day...with a large Cup of Timmy's watching hockey at 8am. Love International play!

Eichel looks good. I like the US team of kids.

I can't get the games on TV, but I've been scoreboard watching. Or at least, I was until the US got their asses handed to them by Russia in the semi-finals. Now I don't care.

Brock "quick starter" Nelson had 6 G & 4 A to lead USA in their 10 games. If there were 40 games he'd probably finish with 11 points.

Couldn't wait to start exchanging head stick swinging with Krug.

Syd once again proving he's all sorts of better than Ovechkin on the big stage.

Tyler Seguin also proving the reason Chiarelli was shown the door. Hopefully Chiarelli can return the favor and send Hall back this way. He's got plenty of do overs on that team now.

Spezza still has some juice left in the tank provided he's got some talented kids to play with.

Team Canada was solid from top to bottom.

With all the speed in the NHL now it sure would be nice to see big ice become the norm.

It sure would, but those are very expensive seats the owners would be losing to expand ice surfaces, sooooooo, not a fucking chance it happens.

Big ice actually can cause the game to slow down. Too much inconsequential ice, guys don't go chasing, etc.

The gap between the NHL and Euro leagues is widening with every year.

The mid-Atlantic Range pushes the Euro and NA tectonic plates further away every year.

Then Russia must be getting closer to the Western Conference teams as the Pacific range contracts.

I read a story, can't remember where, that the NHL is actually seriously considering a bigger ice surface to implement within the next 2-4 years and have the backing of the PA and owners. Not international size, but sort in between what the NHL have now and the International sheet.

They wouldn't lose the most expensive seats. They lose a few cheapest seats in the last rows of the upper bowl by simply shifting the prices back.

It would still cost a lot in terms of renovation. Phoenixdale is bleeding enough cash as is.

I think the overcoached, over-systemic NHL is more to blame for the lack of flow in the game than anything else. That and an inability of the league, players, and officials to come to a consensus on how to properly enforce obstruction. Expand the ice surface and you'll see a brief increase in scoring, but then they'll all adjust.

I think it's hilarious when people talk about obstruction being all back in the game(not that it isn't coming back, but its different). People don't seem to remember or realize how much stickwork there was and was allowed. Watch a game before 2004. Or the 1996 Wings-Blues 2OT game. You will see just how opened up the game still is compared to then. The stickwork obstruction was insane.
