The player escaped injury mainly due to the fact that the slash appeared to hit his stick before hitting his ankle Bobby Clarke on Kharlamov style. Deveaux was inexplicably allowed to play the game and his team won. |

There's also some grainy evidence that the coach told him to go after that player, but I never bothered watching it. Even if the coach tells you to go after a guy during warmups, you don't go up & swing Happy Gilmore style. |
