I'll have to do just a little more research before I post USA's, but here's one guy's projected roster. It's from May so I took the liberty of updating where those players are currently signed.

http://proicehockey.about.com/od/olympi ... roster.htm

FORWARDS:
# Zach Parise, 25 (New Jersey Devils)
# Chris Drury, 32 (New York Rangers)
# Dustin Brown, 25 (Los Angeles Kings)
# Jamie Langenbrunner, 34 (New Jersey Devils)
# Paul Stastny, 24 (Colorado Avalanche)
# Scott Gomez, 30 (Montreal Canadiens)
# Patrick Kane, 21 (Chicago Blackhawks)
# Phil Kessel, 22 (Boston Bruins)
# Ryan Kesler, 25 (Vancouver Canucks)
# David Booth, 25 (Florida Panthers)
# Brian Gionta, 31 (Montreal Canadiens)
# Patrick O’Sullivan, 22 (Edmonton Oilers)
# Mike Knuble, 37 (Washington Capitals)

DEFENSE:
# Brian Rafalski, 36 (Detroit Red Wings)
# Ryan Suter, 25 (Nashville Predators)
# Paul Martin 28 (New Jersey Devils)
# Mike Komisarek, 28 (Toronto Maple Leafs)
# Ryan Whitney, 27 (Pittsburgh Penguins)
# Joe Corvo, 32, (Carolina Hurricanes)
# John-Michael Liles, 30 (Colorado Avalanche)
# Keith Ballard, 27 (Florida Panthers)

GOAL:
# Tim Thomas, 35 (Boston Bruins)
# Ryan Miller, 29 (Buffalo Sabres)
# Craig Anderson, (Colorado Avalanche)

He purposely leaves off Jason Pominville, which I think is a mistake. I think there's room for him somewhere on this roster. Ditto for Brooks Orpik. I'm not so sure about Erik and Jack Johnson.

I must say I'm a little disappointed. I projected us having a far more substantial crop of talent by this time years ago. Of course, Canada we ain't, but I sure thought names like Robbie Schremp would be here by now. I'm a little surprised Jason Blake didn't even get an invite.

Of course it's Brian fricking Burke making the selections, and he's already struck out with his choice of coach. It'll probably be a bunch of goons and grinders going with Komisarek wearing the C, so I guess it doesn't make too much of a difference.

Still, a Parise-Kesler-Kane line would be a lot of fun to watch...

They may not match Canada or some other big gun countries in talent but that squad is dangerous enough to beat anyone if they get hot goaltending. Definitely a big improvement from the over-the-hill oldies that Team USA has iced in big tournaments in the recent past.

And for updating purposes Whitney is still an aquatic bird, but no longer a flightless one.

D'oh, missed that one, thanks.

Yes, the Yanks will be icing a younger and more athletic team, and dare I say much better, I suppose I was just a tad overeager about the development of some of the younger American players around the league.

At the very least we have some really nice options at defense.

Pominville might be on your team, Av, but he isn't on Burke's. Pominville didn't get an invite to the USA's summer camp.

Hmmmm...that's odd. Maybe they should do an all-Quebecois team.

your defense is is suspect, but the forwards are dangerous! they will be as fast as a midget on a shopping cart going down hill!!

You joke, but, unsurprisingly, the Bloc Québécois once made this part of their election platform.

Av- Gordon is an assistant coach of the US team, so rest assured Okposo will be on the team. If he's healthy (and not re-injured) DPahole may be as well.

And so it's just us that's left to announce our roster, right? If it were up to me...

Malone - Parise - Kane
Brown - Stastny - Kessel
Ryan - Pavelski - Oshie
Knuble - Kesler - Langenbrunner

Yeah, that's right, Gomez and Drury can sit their stupid asses at home. First callup in case of injury would be Gionta. Sorry, Pominville, no room for you either. Not sure where to put Okposo.

Rafalski - Martin
Suter - Orpik
E. Johnson - Whitney

No Jack Johnson, no Hollywood Hainsey, no Bogosian. No doubt Burke would disagree with me on the exclusion of Komisarek. Don't know if Martin's healthy or not, I haven't had the energy to waste on charting the Devils.

Goaltending is pretty easy.

Miller
Thomas
Anderson

If we have any hope at all to whip the Canuckians, it lies with Ryan Miller.

So pissed off guys like Robbie Schremp and Jack Johnson have developed so piss-poorly. I also had an outside hope Patty O'Sullivan would be at least a semi-decent scorer at this point.

Mirtle puts down his picks.

Not much argument from me, he too would leave Drury off. I really hope Burke isn't stupid enough to include him.
