Red Berenson was one of the honoured former players at the final game at Joe Louis Arena on Sunday. Today he retired as the head coach of the University of Michigan men's ice hockey coach. Berenson retires with 10 conference championships, 23 NCAA tournament appearances, 11 Frozen Four appearances and 2 National Championships. Longtime assistant and now, head coach of Michigan Tech, Mel Pearson, is the front-runner to replace Berenson.
