A good haul for the Canucks.

Roberto Luongo
Daniel Sedin
Henrik Sedin
Daniel Alfredsson
Hanna-Riikka Sallinen
Herb Carnegie

They could’ve also put Jennifer Botterill in, seems kinda silly to have two slots reserved for women and then not use them.

Anyway, some debate has arisen online as to the worthiness of this class. I have no issue whatsoever with the twins and Luongo going in, some might say they weren’t first-year worthy, but whatever. Alfredsson IMO is loooooong overdue.

So I suppose the real debate is who should be in now. Alfie was essentially the “Best Player Not in The Hall” for the most part, so who should also be in? Most say Alexander Mogilny should be in there, and beyond that the debate continues with Patrik Elias, Alexei Kovalev, Pierre Turgeon, etc. Where would you draw the line?

What exactly is the controversy around Alexander Mogilny? Great, great player who started out as a sniper and became a terrific two-way player.

And led the way of Russian exodus to the NHL. Impactful on and off the ice.

Apparently his acrimonious departures from Buffalo, Vancouver and Jersey still linger in the minds of the hockey guys who still decide this stuff. Lou Lamoriello in particular supposedly doesn't like him very much. All very petty stuff, as you'd imagine.

Also I think there was some debate on whether, given all that talent, he "gave it his all" throughout his entire career. Sounds like stupid reasons to me.
