Well going to have to one up you there...We are 6-0-1 on the season.

Though I am the goalie that took the one tie, but that team has not lost yet either.

unbeaten streak is over.

In frustrating fashion, we where short some key guys and the other team was short their worst guys and they where all over us, but I was really on and kept us in it with a 3-3 tie in the last minute, when a guy just trying to keep the puck on side tossed it towards the net and it took a solid skip and a hop a foot in front of me and went through me for a goal.

Just call me Hero to zero...

Surgery for the Hernia is booked for Dec 16th so atleast part of the two months down time overlaps the holidays.

Think I better drop ten pounds before as the inactivity will be unusual. :argh:

We won again on Monday, so we're 4-0-2 on the year. Just a really good all-around game.

We won again on Thursday, and we did play a great game. We blew the shutout with 20 seconds left.

4-1 win. :)

Fuck, haven't played league since last winter's playoffs
Commish didn't even call me to ask if we were playing
that's a little presumptuous, if I must say

been playing pickup, closer to home
got a nice goal off my own rebound Saturday night
then again, that really doesn't count, does it?

That sucks that they didn't call you. You guys been playing as a team in that league for a long time, haven't you?

We won again last Thursday 4-2, 5-0-2 now on the year.

Would you of played though?

The all count and when it comes to bashing home rebounds I find often the same guys are always the ones doing it, so there is clearly something to the talent and one goal is still one goal no matter how much prettier one is than another. Better to be able to bash in rebound and junk than be "King of Pickup" which we use as slang to explain the guys that when given time and space at pickup look like superstars with their playground moves but the second you but them in a real game with guys closing out on them and no wide open decoys to use they disappear from the stat sheet.

I've only let in two shit goals this year so far, but both where at key points. One was the final minute of a tie game and the other was in the first minute against a quality team and it was there go to guy who road the momentum to a hat trick and a 4-1 lose where we only scored late and where never in it.

I'm the anti-Fuhr.

No, we wouldn't have ... no one on my team even called to ask if we were still in
Everyone pretty much knew without saying, that we were done
I miss league, but I don't miss playing on Sunday nights at all
Nor do I miss that 45 minute drive each way. An extra $300 per season on gas

Well, on the rebound goal, I buried it under the crossbar
I caught i nice pass pass behind the d-man, and broke in alone
I went right to left, so he had to stretch his pad out to block my
first shot, and actually it was a good effort to get to the rebound
His pad save was directing it towards the boards, but my momentum
was taking me that way already. I knew I had to go high, given his position.

And it WAS pickup, that's what I meant by it doesn't count

Freezing temps tonight for the first time all winter, and a fresh sharpening 8-)
Played a lot of shifts at forward tonight, and I'd have to say they were my
best shifts...especially when I was on RW (even though I'm a lefty)
I had one great shift of defense, a few ok, and quite a few less than ok
I didn't score any goals, but had bounds of energy on a night when we only had one sub
The RW thing... it may be a fluke, or I may be on to something
Since I normally play D, when I'm on forward I always come back and give my
defensemen a good target, whether they look that way or not

What was cool about skating RW tonight, was every time I started out of our zone
(and towards the end, EVERY outlet pass was coming to me)
if the other team tried to seal me on the boards, I could cut inside and look for
the pass across to center or all the way to LW (my stick being on the inside helped that)
When I stopped and cut inside, if my pursuit followed to the inside to take away pass,
I could just as easily tuck it back in and zip by them to the outside again
It worked just as well in the offensive zone
sometimes, I was able to stop, cut inside and thread a pass to the center or
the far winger for a golden chance.

I also completely leveled at least 6 dudes tonight, almost every one an accident
That's a good sign; if I can maintain my position and balance on unexpected contact
it means I'm getting my skating legs back

Finished off my year with a two two tie in a game where we had two subs to their eight extras, I played well and the team did was patient. Surgery tomorrow so will be out for bit now. :chris18:

Weird and sad another guy on the team played his last for a while as he has cancer and is also having surgery tomorrow. Think he said prostate, but it could of been pancreatic at the time I did not know the huge difference between the two...God I hope it is prostate. Good guy and this is my third season on the same team. Really makes my Hernia and two months of recovery in perspective and I really shouldn't bitch too much.

I like the snow and all but the fucking weather better cooperate tomorrow--this is the best team I've ever been on and we're all pretty confident we can beat either of the two teams vying to face our team, Hot Love Injection, in the championship game. We've already been pushed back one week. I run the risk of missing the game entirely if it's pushed back another. :argh:

Will return to the ice tonight.

Looking forward to it, but suspect a bit of disappointment in seeing how much "game" has been lost.

Have fun! Here's hoping that you've healed up and aren't too rusty...

Haven't updated this for a while...the Barley Kings are 10-3-2 and one point ahead of 2nd place.
