Our league just announce they are still now allowed one parent per kid at games again after they relooked at the restrictions.

Yeah we have heard about other adult pick up hours getting warnings about spitting on the bench. Glad I am a goalie as spitting disgust me and if that is a common activity on the bench good thing I am not on it.

I'll never get the spitting on the bench thing. I have a few teammates who spit all over it. And not like rinsing their mouth out with water. Just spit. I used to always flip my stick and put my butt end down on the bench floor. Did it once and slid down the bench- saw a long ass string of spit from my butt end into a loogey. I wiped the butt end on the guy who had spit, changed sticks for the game and retaped by butt end after the game, washing my hands profusely afterwards. There's a garbage can on the bench. Why not spit into it? And yeah, I put the blade end on the bench now, not the butt end.

So my son's Hockey(house league 2006, 2007 birth year) has been a very friendly affair so far. Not sure if it is the 4 on 4, the extra travel kids that dropped down due to covid, or my suspicion that there is a lot less moron adults in the stands winding the kids up.

But it has been one big friendly and clean hang out on the ice and given that these are all kids working on their future beer league skills as far as a hockey future goes it is great to see.

That's awesome. Glad to hear it.

I've loved the games we had with no parents in the building. The kids could just concentrate on the game, not seeing if "I play in the B division! I know everything about the game!" dad approves of their last shift.

My weekly hour has been suspended till late January here due to us going into a higher state of restrictions.

My Sons Hockey still happening with the following guidelines.

RED “Control” Level Guidelines for NFMHA

1 parent/guardian only for on-ice participants under the age of 18.
Maximum of 10 participants in each rink
Maximum 2 instructors in each rink
Change rooms will be closed to all users
Only participants, coaches, parents/guardians who live in the Niagara Region are permitted inside the Gale Centre
Gameplay and scrimmages are not permitted
Masks to be worn by all persons entering the facility
Masks to be worn by all players until they have put on their helmet
Require screening of patrons
Contact Tracing list to be administered for all on-ice activities
Players will only be permitted to enter the facility 15 minutes prior to their scheduled ice time.
Players must leave the facility within 15 minutes of the conclusion of their scheduled ice time

Guess that means just practices and instead of two teams sharing the rink it would have to be one to keep it under 10. Not sure how no change rooms works for a goalie, I could see a skater driving to the rink in full gear but not a goalie. Guess we will find out.

Holy cow. Is it a full size rink? 10 players and 2 coaches seems like very little on a full sheet. We are allowed up to 40 people total. Then again, C19 is going through our facility so maybe we're not the best example of "what to do".

Do players change in a lobby or something? We have a mixture of home dressers, car dressers, lobby dressers and we are currently allowed like 8 players/locker room, based on sitting 6' apart.

A goalie dressing at home would be something to see. You'd have to throw him in the back of a pickup or Suburban with the seats folded down.

2020- year of the home dresser

So I may either have to break seatbelt laws or Covid laws....lol

Sure they will further explain what we are to do. Well pretty sure...maybe more hopeful.

All else fails drop him off at door and let him figure it out.

Canadian cops would understand if it's for hockey, right? "officer, he's in GOALIE GEAR. How hurt could he get?"

Email the rink or coaches.

Miss18.1 is now an official coach. Took her Level 1 course a few weeks after turning 18. Miss18.2's team (all girls) love her as a coach and hang on every word she says, unlike what this old, fat guy says. I get it. That's why I'm so psyched she's getting involved!

USA Hockey have pushed State and National youth hockey tournaments back 1 month this year. States will be in April and Nationals in May. The feeling is the C19 vaccines should be readily available by then. I sure hope so!

That's really cool about Miss18.2 coaching Miss18.1!

Yeah and I think she's also going to be Alternate Captain for her team, which is a huge change from last year when the previous head coach (not me) hated her for some reason. New guy respects her a lot. So it's a good week for her!
And thanks. I think it's great. We've now got 5 coaches for her team of 15 skaters. Three are women with great hockey experience. Awesome role models for a girls team!

I keep saying I'm going to start a collaborative web site for coaches to post funny/dumb things kids have said/done. Last night I was going over the neutral zone weave and I thought rhetorically asked the team if they could figure out why it's called a "weave", while theatrically weaving my hands back & forth. "Does it have to do with a hair weave?" I waited for her to laugh. She didn't. She was dead serious. Same kid who said she deserves to be on a better team with a coach who knows what he's talking about. My drills are too simplistic. This kid doesn't understand offside yet. Fucking hair weave. I'm still laughing a day later.

Wow. We just got word that we can start playing games within our region of NY on 2/1. They're hoping to have the State tournament in April. The email had the caveat "as long as covid numbers don't rise". They didn't say how much. iiam:

I donned some really ill-fitting borrowed goalie gear on the backyard rink yesterday morning (leg pads too big everything else WAY too small), along with regular player pants & skates, and let the kids shoot on me. I figured shooting on a horrendous, fat goalie would build confidence. In last night's game, Miss18.2 got her first of the season! We won 2-1.

I am a genius. And a truly terrible goalie.
