On 32 Questions podcast, Elliottte Friedmannn suggested teams will be walking away from many restricted free agents this offseason. Cap space is at a premium and no one wants to overpay a guy. Some names thrown about:

Kasperi Kapanen, Pavel Zacha, Denis Gurianov, Dylan Strome, Ethan Bear, Miles Wood. Figure we can add Kubalik too.

Something to watch out for.

Gurianov signs what would've been his qualifying offer. Stars catch a break.

I'd also add Georgiev to this list, if the Rangers don't trade him first. They don't have room for a backup that needs a 2.65M QO.

Some pretty surprising non-tenders, starting with Strome/Kubalik and now Howden, Lemieux, Mete, Dahlen, Steel, Milano, Rem Pitlick etc.

In addition to the slew of non-quals, we're seeing a whole lot of players getting bought out, and what's surprising is that it's a lot of younger players getting the boot.

Some notables:

Oskar Lindblom
Rudolfs Balcers (seriously, why him?)
Michael Del Zotto
Patrik Nemeth (hasn't happened yet but reportedly will soon)

Sorry, I lied. Nemeth will NOT be bought out. I guess they're gearing up for a trade or two, so he'll be the requisite cap dump going the other way.
