I think Toffoli and all the wingers are waiting on Hall.

Brodie gets 4 years from Toronto.

Tanev gets 4 x 4.5M AAV from Calgary. I would've kept Brodie if the difference was only .5M.

Good for Tanev but didn't he make $4.45 these past 5 years? Whoa, strange new world. I bet the Canucks offered 3 x $4.45M.

Didn't the Leafs learn their lesson with Tyson Barrie? Guess not.

Morning Hall Monitors (I didn't coin it).

Greiss to DET
Crawford to NJ

Who still needs a goalie? EDM unless they see something in Forsberg.

Smith to BOS is pretty much a perfect fit. They now have a Krug sized hole on defence.

Leafs sign Bogosian and trade Johnsson to NJ for Joey Anderson. Leafs are hamstrung by their higher end players, but I think they've improved.

Who's cleared enough cap space to go after Hall? Columbus, New York, Boston, Nashville, Colorado are in the mix.

Taylor Hall goes to Buffalo: 1 year, 8M.

Is he hoping to get 100 points with Eichel?

That's the only thing I can think of.

Well...that and maybe helping them win the lottery in 2021. Aatu Räty is theirs!!!

They probably gave the highest $ bid, and he figures at 1 year he can be moved as a rental to a contender at the deadline. Pretty smart move. Then he can test another team at year's end, and possibly sign for 8 next summer. Or, he can do this all again!

Chicago's core 4 is on record as saying they're mad about this year's partial reset. Bowman hasn't improved the team much this offseason, but he did just get Mattias Janmark, who's pretty underrated.

Isles are supposedly about to announce a deal with Corey Schneider. Most people think it's so he can play in Bridgeport in case Sorokin somehow totally goes south (or back to Russia), and it's Lou giving an opportunity to a guy he knows/likes. Gives Bridgeport a veteran NHL goalie, which could be a great thing for them.

Yep you called MTL. Now they're up against the cap too. I called that the Canucks wouldn't be able to keep him. Jimbo has created a hot mess in Vancouver, people are calling for his head once again. 0 for 4 with their UFA's.

Quote:
Toffoli - gone (younger, cheaper option in Boeser and they can't afford to keep both wingers. Boeser is the safe bet because he has short term cost certainty and Toffoli will get offers driving his price up. Bear in mind they gave up Tim Schaller, the rights to forward Tyler Madden, a second-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft and a conditional pick in the 2022 NHL Draft to acquire him.

Canucks had a bad offseason, I'd say. Held on to some guys they should've dumped and lost some decent players they might miss.

Habs are now exceeding the cap a smidge, but unless my math is off they can get under dumping Weal and filling 13F and 7F with minimum guys. Kulak may also be sacrificed.

Canuck's had a predictable off season and it was because of the signings in seasons prior. Myers was a huge mistake, his acquisition cost the team Tanev, a better and cheaper option. And Toffoli was just a really expensive rental by a GM who far over estimated how far his team could go.

Loui Eriksson, Antoine Roussel, Jay Beagle, Tyler Myers signings summed up toghether resulted in this off season having to be what it is. Benning is completely handcuffed, which is good as it stopped him from other ridiculous signings. And it doesn't get any better next year with Demko, Petterssen and Quinn to sign and only $22 million coming off the books. Those 3 signings could gobble up $18 million of that they'll still have to replace the other 5 UFA's for only $4 million.
