Joe Morrow to the Jets for a pick. Habs instantly get better.

Yeah...I didn't wish that we had to trade Tatar, but it had to be done unfortunately. One of the few guys of any value on the roster but also with a cap hit that'll allow the younger guys to be retained while the old, expensive guys eat up the rest of the cap space.

Some people saying the Wings should go as far as trading Larkin, Mantha, etc. I'm not a fan of that, but who knows...maybe it is the right move come the draft or something. I just think they're young enough that when we've restocked they'll still be useful. It'd have to be a great deal to trade them now.

Yowza: McDonagh to TB for Namestnikov, a 1st, conditional second, prospects Brett Howden and Libor Hajek.

Massive haul...McDonagh is 28...is he all that defensively? I admittedly haven't watched him much at all. Win now for TB. Only a year left on the deal, which is also what Kucherov has.

Coburn, Stralman, and Girardi all expire after next season too, opening a bunch of room.

Namestnikov was also up for another contract next season...

I thought McDonagh would land more to me honest.

Miller and Namestnilov are more or less a push to me and the 1st is >25th and the prospects strike me as good but unlikely big time players. Just thought Foote as an example could have been had but clearly that was not the case it would seem.

Bruins pick up Tommy Wingels....not really sure I understand what the Bruins are doing......they had a really nice mix of young and old.......now they have Holden, Nash, Gionta and Wingels.

Somebody didn't like Spooner so he's gone. Vatrano is also gone. Bellesky didn't even play anymore. Not sure where you put all these guys.

Hunh? Ok no Wingels must be fake tweeting!

Day ends with Pat Maroon to Jersey. Vanek to Columbus.

Lightning, Penguins and Predators looking pretty good to me.

Oh wow yeah with JT Miller. Dude's a little younger than Namestnikov with a better track record looks like.

No Green deal. Sounds like injury wariness and maybe people just didn't want to give up much. I'm sure Detroit would have retained some and when goals are at a premium, the guy's PP production numbers are fantastic. That could have helped someone.

Good trade. Detroit now has 11 picks in the upcoming draft. Detroit also got rid of Tatar's contract at $5.3 million / year.

Yeah, good return for him. Here's what I wrote about his contract last summer:

Quote:
Tatar signed to a perfectly reasonable 4-year deal at $5.3 mil per. Apparently the Wings didn't set out to destroy him in arbitration, just compared numbers to similar players/deals.

He's young enough and the term is short enough that it could be moved if need be.

Not quite as eventful a deadline as I would've liked (hello Ottawa) but still had plenty of last-minute drama.

Still absolutely stunned that St. Louis pulled the plug. And I'm listening to Chevy now, it was Armstrong who reached out to him via text about the possibility of Stastny being had.
