Red Wings might sign Vrbata or Vanek. That is about all that I have heard.

I should add Brendan Smith to the list: some team is going to give him 4 years, 16M

Better him than Kris Russell. I think the Rangers will decide whether or not to keep him depending on which way they think Shattenkirk will go.

Except for a #2 goalie (which should be exceedingly easy to get), I want the Avs to stay the hell away from any free agent signings.

Michael Stone would in theory fit a need for the Leafs.

Smith would be a great signing with Detroit if Ericsson and Kronwall weren't around.

Smith is off the table--NY wisely keeps him around at just over $4 million per. Lot of comparisons between him and Anton Stralman have been surfacing after his performance in this year's playoffs. I haven't seen the guy a lot so don't shoot the messenger.

Amazing how much Dan Girardi's name is coming up. Seriously?

I think Stralman is less of a risk taker, less physical than Smith.

The Frenzy is on:

Alzner to MTL: 5 years, ~4.5M AAV

Meh, he's good friends with Price. Clearly the Habs trying to appease the goalie.

Sharp back to CHI
Steve Mason to WPG

Bunch of depth defenceman going fast:

Hunwick to PIT
Girardi to TB
Daley to DET
Kulikov to WPG

Three centres go:

Havlat to DAL: 3 years, 4.75M AAV
Bonino to NSH: 4 years, 4.1M AAV
Boyle to NJ: 2 years, 2.55M AAV

Gagner goes to VAN: 3 years, $9.45M

For the most part, not crazy overpays, but since none of these players are superstars, there's a good chance a few of these will turn disastrous.

In order to sign Bonino, the Preds traded Colin Wilson to COL for a 4th in 2020.

No surprise, Rags win the Shattenkirk sweepstakes. Takes the hometown discount at 4 years, $6.9M AAV.

Preds add a third ex-Habs defenceman: Emelin

Curious move, but hey, he's an acceptable no. 5 D.

Rumor mill went into overdrive regarding Duchene once that deal went down. Of course, nothing happened.

Also...WTF Toronto. Marleau for three years and $18 million!? Really!?

Yeah the Leafs sign 37 year old Marleau to $6.25M per year for three years. Wonder if the Leafs are going to find themselves in a Cap crunch within the next 18 months.

Marleau will develop an allergy to his equipment sometime between year two and three of the deal.

Stars sign Radulov to a 5 year $31.25M contract. Looks like it's Cup of bust for Gaglardi.

Benn-Sequin-Radulov: now that would be a killer line

No hard feelings about this one. Radulov earned a long-term deal and got it. Will he be motivated to play as well as he did last season for the Habs? Time will tell.
