It's that time again, and we might see a few with a flat cap expected.

First up is RJ Umberger. Philly buys out his final year at 4.5M.

I'd love to see a chart as to who is leading in the "dead cash" category, i.e. $$$ committed to buyouts, both amnesty and regular. Philly's GOTTA be leading in that category, with perhaps...the Islanders?...a distant 2nd.

Probably not- Yashin came off the books last year, so they've just got DiPietro.

That Umberger/Hartnell trade was just hilariously awful.

DET has dead money in the Weiss buyout, Kindl, and whatever contract Danny Cleary has at the time.

Given how inept some front offices are and have shown, I'm mildly pissed off that Holland hasn't found someone to take Ericsson. A buyout would be a surprising move considering that they fucking sat Brendan Smith for him, the guy who by many advanced stats was actually Detroit's best defenseman, but it would certainly be a welcome one.

Not a fun buyout cap hit for Ericsson.
