As expected, Arendelle did not clear. The only surprise was that it was New Jersey that claimed him first, not Edmonton as everyone was expecting.

I guess just the way the Leafs and Spezza together came across as this was the plan seems sketchy but at the same time fully believe he would retire if claimed anywhere else so guess it was on the up and up. It feels like a loophole, small loophole...but a loophole.

As well Aeron Dell claimed off waivers by Jersey. Good luck and Godspeed Dell, we will always have that preseason White on Blue preseason game to remember you by.

Man, the waiver wire is getting burned out.

Galchenyuk heads to the Leafs in a deal involving two other minor leaguers. Apparently Gally didn't bother leaving Canada in case a deal could be made where he got to stay in the country and didn't have to go through any sort of quarantine for nothing. Sure enough, he stays in the North Division Brought To You By Boston Pizza.

Brett Connolly and Alex Stalock. GMs are trying to slide contract guys down for the cap space. Everyone is tight so it's working.

Your boy Jarred Tinordi getting claimed by the Bruins is about the only guy I can think of in recent memory not making it through.

Noah Juulsen with FLA too. Something about those Hab defencemen!

We got a claim! Canucks get Jimmy Vesey from Toronto, keep him in the north.

Vesey was always gonna be bogged down by the hype of him ditching the Preds for NY, but I'm surprised the guy hasn't found his place as a 3rd liner.

Geez Canada, why the hell does he have to fill out work visa stuff? Apparently won't be available tonight because of it, even took the pregame skate.

We got another claim! Same two teams! Vancouver gets a Leaf, this time it's Travis Boyd.

Because his original work visa had him playing for the Leafs; now it's got to be revised to say Cannots... This is something management should have taken care of immediately after making the claim. This is GMJB's fault for not taking care of shit.

Panthers take a chance on Gusev after his buyout in Jersey. Hasn't really panned out yet. May be his last chance before going back to Russia.

Lots and lots of guys on waivers, most surprisingly Alex Barré-Boulet, who the Lightning gave a three year deal to because he was expected to anchor the 4th line. Underlying stats look good on the defensive side, but his skating is questionable.

But really, there are so many bad teams this season that teams would be stupid to pass him up, especially Anaheim and Detroit, who both know him well enough (Bouchard and Yzerman).

Aaaaaand Seattle snags him. That was probably a mistake on Tampa's part. For a grinder there was a lot of hype about him around the league. There was a very good chance he wasn't going to clear.

:nar:

Should add that Tampa reclaimed ABB when Seattle claimed him but even though they had an open door to send him down, they didn't.

Big defenseman Cale Clague gets the boot from Los Angeles. I remember him from a couple WJCs, thought he’d have a bigger impact.

Avs should take him yesterday.
