The NHL and ESPN have inked a 7 year deal.
If this means no more Pierre on national broadcasts, I'm totally cool with it.

All the ESPN talking heads who spent the last two decades talking shit about hockey will need to reverse course.

And McGuire for Melrose ain't exactly an upgrade.

Melrose is a dolt, but McGuire is someone I'd like to see pummeled by kittens.

People are clamoring for Gary Thorne to do play by play. He used to do Devils games and would yell "and a BIG DRIVE" for anything sent toward the net, even a goal mouth scramble. No thanks.

Looking forward to a few years from now when ESPN is nothing but hockey and e-sports.

ESPN's news coverage has completely shit the bed since the days of Skip Bayless, but I like their actual broadcasts of games. It'd be nice to hear Gary Thorne call an NHL game again, he's already publicly expressed interest.

And I'd take Barry Melrose over goddamned Pierre any day.

Has anyone heard the financials of the deal? I can't find them anywhere. Also who's going to pick up the other half of the US rights?

420. ESPN telling Bettman he was smoking the weed to think the Outdoor Network, or whatever the hell it was called back then, would promote the NHL as much as ESPN could in America.

Outdoor LIFE Network. That's right. I was pretty close! Considering I don't remember my kids' names.
